   Can I use my hubpages amazon associates account on other blogging sites as well, or do I need a new amazon associates account?

      Glad you asked because I wondered that same thing for a long time, then realized at some point that your Amazon account is YOUR Amazon account; so I started using it on my own website. It's good to clarify this point, I was in the dark about this for quite awhile.

      Absolutely, yes you can! But you might want to set up a new tracking id with Amazon and use this for your blog so that you can track what sales are coming via your blog and which are coming via hubpages.
      It is easy to do, just go to your amazon account, and on the top left hand side of the page you will see your tracking id and a link which says 'manage' - use this to go to a new screen where you will see another link 'add new'. You might want to give this tracking id the same name as your blog. Then just use this new tracking id on your blog and when you look at your amazon reports, you will see from the drop down reports menu at the top of the page that there is an option to see the Tracking id summary report. Alternatively from the top left of the page, you can choose to view combined reports for all your tracking ids or just untick the combined box and select which id you want to view stats for.             ologsinquito, ue the following format to construct your links:
            
            http://www.amazon.com/dp/ASIN/?tag=your_Associates_ID
            
            -replace "ASIN" with the 10-digit ISBN
            -replace "your_Associates_ID" with your  tracking ID

            @ologsinquito if you have a blogger blog, you might find this information helpful http://www.   blogher.com/amazon-associates-affiliate-program-now-integrated-blogger-blogs (link broken after www. to avoid creating a link here). I am not too familiar with blogger as my blogs are wordpress.
            If you are manually adding amazon links to your wordpress blog, you can do this with the right tracker id when you create the link to copy and paste in as it tells you which tracker id you are using at the top of the page and you can alter this using the drop down to select whichever option you want.
            Personally, I purchased a plugin called easy azon which is simple to set up and allows me to add text or image links to my pages and the tracker id is set on the plugin's settings page.

   you are only allowed to have one Amazon account but can do multiple trackers as Alison explained.

      If you are talking about the Amazon widget in blogger, I still haven't figured it on how to use that. I will post soon right here as I figure it out.

      Okay I figured it out. There are 3 options for putting a link to Amazon inside your blog:
      1. Use one of the Amazon widgets found in Blogger's gadget menu (you have no way of linking the gadget to your Amazon Associates ID)
      
      2.Log in to the appropriate Amazon site, find the product that  you want to link to, and choose "Link to this page", from the site-stripe at the top of the page.
      3.Log in to your amazon associates account and select your Tracking ID(displayed on top left). then choose the widgets tab, or goto https://widgets.amazon.com and choose your widget.
      
      As you see, only options 2 and 3 can profit, as for option 1, we cannot link the gadget to your Amazon Associates ID. Hope this helps ologsinquito .

            A fourth method, you can use Amazon's own code builder after signing into your associates account, and choosing Links & banners tab.

         just as an 'aside' the amazon widgets do look good on your page but because of the type of coding they use, do slow up your blog loading times quite a bit.

   I had Amazon Associate links on my Blogger blog which worked successfully.  However, I haven't been back to the page for a while, and now that I have, I see that there is just a big white oblong where there used to be an Amazon widget. 
   
   So I would like to know whether the advice on this thread is still relevant, or whether there has been some change which would give rise to different actions from those mentioned here.  Does anyone know, and can anyone help me please?

      The advice may not be relevant - it depends whether you're using your own Amazon account on HubPages, or you're using the HubPages one.
      
      You can use your own Amazon account anywhere you like, but the HubPages one can be used on HubPages only.

   There were also some changes made to Amazon links recently that meant you had to update any old widgets etc with new code. You should have got an email from Amazon about this. Log into your Amazon account and click on 'update ad units' to check if any of yours need changing.
