From a completely selfish point of view, what's the likelihood of getting 'Guitar' and 'Travel'  vertical sites...

I'd also be interested to know what Hubpages has planned for future vertical sites...

Up next is beauty followed by food and recipe. Hubpages has stated that most, if not all of the categories  will be carried over. No timetable has been announced either, so I would assume they will just trickle through over the course of the year. I would imagine entertainment and media would follow soon and travel as well..stay tuned. I'm just writing as I normally would.  Hope this helps.

I would think there would be sites for those categories, or, at least, a broader category that includes them.

That brings up a good point, Nate. Will there be sites with more focused sub topics, such as music instruments and equipment,  or would it more general like how it resides in entertainment and media currently.

A lot of hubs are in the wrong categories. I write about Astrology, but also other metaphysical topics. Many of my hubs are fiction, I use Astrology and invent characters; then I put them in situations a person of that Astrology sign would find themselves in. I've never been able to establish they are fictional writing pieces, except in the short summary at the beginning of the hub.

...but it's up to you to choose the categories so why are they in the wrong ones?

HubPages suggests a category when you create a Hub but it's only a suggestion.

After they make the suggestion, I don't understand where to go to find the right categories and change them. I have at least 15 pieces that are about Astrology and two on Reincarnation, one very personal, and they only suggest Religion and Metaphysics.

I have two series of well known people grouped by Astrology sign, and HP put them in Rich and Famous People or something like that, even worse. It's written so people can see the similarities in the Astrology sign, not because they rich or famous. Many aren't rich at all, they are historical figures.

It should be Fiction, then Relationships or Astrology, possibly history. I know there is that huge list of topics at the beginning of HP, I don't know how to get them up on my Hub when I begin it. What do you do after the suggestion is wrong to get it to the right category?

When you start a new Hub, where you see the suggested category, you should also see tabs for "Search" and "Browse".   If you have an idea what category you want, you can Browse - otherwise use the Search.

For an existing Hub, you'll see "Topic" right at the very top - click on that and you'll get the same options.

However, I'm not sure it's a good idea to spread your articles across topics.  My own view is that you'd be best to put ALL your Hubs under either Astrology or Tarot - even if they are using those things to create a fiction piece etc.

The reason is that I'd say there is a very good chance HubPages will create a separate site for Astrology and Tarot, and it would be to your advantage to have all your Hubs grouped together on that site, so they need to be in that category to have a chance of being moved over.

That is, indeed, a good question. I can only guess, but I'd think for guitars, the site would be more narrowed down to musical instruments because entertainment and media is too broad; niches are supposed to be narrowed down. This would be in line with what they've done so far, I think; with the tattoo and piercing site, for instance.

Guitars, I would think, is a very evergreen topic; which is good, means it lasts longer in the search engine, people keep coming back for it. So, I'd think the topic is a very good candidate for one of the future niche sites.

I agree thinking it would emulate automotive. A site on auto rather than a site on Chevrolet or Ford. I can see music as the theme with sub-categories like instruments.
