Since When Did You Decide You have To Like The Candidate ?
No one liked Nixon , Not a lot of people liked Ronald Reagan , Tell me someone liked George or G. W .Bush ! Voting for political leadership was never a popularity contest ! But today YOU are all so indoctrinated by "American Idol ", The Voice , or for our younger voters , cartoons . American voters need to beef up on political maturity .
Do you truly want to like a really good political leader ?
It is always a plus to personally like someone. But, I think where politics is concerned when we say we like someone it has to do with their stated stands on issues and how we think they would lead. Not that we'd want to have dinner with them and be buddies.
Having been around awhile , I have watched a sense of voter maturity reduce itself to a more shallow and even visual likability though , especially among the younger voters . We can all go to the usual rhetoric , but as I listen to real people "vet " their candidate , its more about the" looks ", the sound , even the way they dress , for instance , Trumps hair , Hillary's Pant suits , G.W.Bush's and Obama's way of delivering a smirk ! There is definitely less maturity around , in spite of all the media ,as compared to thirty , forty years ago . Just saying .
Really vetting a candidate is rare .
I have been around for a while too, we are media driven. At least when it comes to the presidential contests, I see no more disturbing trends in the choices of the voters than we have had in previous generations given the levels of media and information available.
People do not necessarily associate selecting the more conservative candidate with maturity. Like I said, I have been around a awhile and I don't.
Well its all a media driven problem . When honesty , integrity , neutrality from the media slants most political opinion to some outside or otherwise influenced agenda , other than for the political good , for the voters good ; We in Houston we have a problem ! That is FAR different than thirty or forty years ago.
It's so hard to really vet a candidate now. They talk out of both sides of their mouths, as always; but the media catches it all, shares it all, spins it all and what we end up with is having to go with gut instinct because we are faced with too much conflicting information. Where are the lies and where are the truths? Many times in life, when faced with such, it is a question of liability.
Why do we trust anyone? Few of us could defend our reasoning for liking anyone when faced with a determined effort to expose all of their flaws and few can have principles without it being easy to point out the possible problems associated with the stand.
Politics, to me, is much more confusing because although I may agree on a platform I can't agree on the implementation. I might agree on expenditure of public funds but disagree on how to budget for them . There are too many people making too many promises and not enough fences to reign in the spending. So sometimes we simply vote by liability because we have no hope for hope and at least want what we perceive as a friendly face.
To tell you the truth, with our government in the shambles it is and with the sorry field of contenders at the top of the race I'm not sure what other criteria there is at this juncture. All choices pose risks I can't see can be surmounted. We are up the proverbial creek and no candidate is holding a paddle.
Yes, things have been distorted with government propaganda since Obama and Congress approved his domestic deceptive propaganda: Smith-Mundt Modernization Act of 2012 (H.R. 5736)
Its legal for the US mainstream media to peddle propaganda to the world and its own citizens, and they do.
You are very keen to recognize the changes in the past few years. Their Marxist / communist propaganda is legal in schools and colleges as well.

People are being dumbed-down. (radical Islamic terrorists)
Anarchists are trolls, shills, the fed, the hackers, the liars...
Tyrants...
The saddest part of all this media based distortion is that the direction we are headed in the teachings of our youth and younger people . There is so much indoctrination to entitlements as promised by the left , a trophy for just showing up instead of what can YOU do for country , for humanity , for nature . More than likely , there will be no return to a balanced center , politically . The left is owning our children , and all as pre- planned !
Insider at the RNC table says that the new strategy by the RNC is dastardly. What they are going to do, and this comes with Jeb Bush endorsing Ted Cruz. They are going to go to all extremes to make sure Trump doesn't get 1237. They are going to back Cruz and look like they are on fire for Cruz but its simply to keep Trump from getting 1237.
Then, they have a brokered convention. These parties are not government agencies, they can change the rules when they choose. They are rigging it...they are fixing to show on the news that Trump's audiences are diminishing. They doing that with George Soros ... you see these protesters at Trump's speeches, they are trying to get people to come out with violence ... because they know moral people / Christians aren't into that. So why would you go to a speech and run the risk of getting hurt? Its a chilling effect. Then, we will hear the audiences are dwindling down and the magic is gone, the phenomena is over.
So, its got to be bigger audiences to counter the baloney. Go to Trump's rallies...and when you see these paid protesters ... don't pay any attention to them, don't get into a shouting match with them. Just pretend they are not there...Now, for anybody that gets attacked by protesters, they need to file criminal charges. What's neat about filing criminal charges is these protesters are being paid to be there...Whoever paid them to go to that speech to protest and throw a fit and cause violence...that person is a co-conspirator. George Soros, a Nazi collaborator is above the law...he has money and power. They are not going to indict Hillary either. But, Trump would as president.
The RNC is doing everything it can to see that Hillary wins. But, when they go to that brokered convention they can pick anyone they want as a presidential candidate. Jeb? Ryan? Romney? Well, they will have a backlash from Republicans and Hillary will sail into victory!
But, as Abraham Lincoln said, In this country public opinion is everything. So, we can stop this.
Here is a video about some very creepy software for people to be aware of where they can make it look like anyone they want to, is sayings what they want them to say. And, with the deceptive propaganda laws its legal. I have a feeling they are already testing this out with DARPA.

This , is where using ones OWN intuition comes into play . Political elections have become the new beauty MS. USA pageant , for whatever naïve reasoning , we want to love EVERYTHING about a candidate , rather than vetting through traditional channels , which similar party ideology does that person share ? What are the religious similarities , the values , the character traits , the moral standings ? Not image but substance ! And then go vote- we have become sophomoric !

What would be the rational for voting for someone because of party affiliation? Are strategic party moves detrimental to the democratic process? Do we need political parties.
