   Mississippi House passes bill requiring teachers to grade parents

   If a bill passed by the Mississippi House becomes law, students won’t be the only ones receiving grades from teachers.
   
   BAD GRADE: If a bill that passed in the Mississippi House becomes law, teachers will grade parents on their involvement with their children’s education
   
   Under House Bill 4, also known as the Parent Involvement and Accountability Act, teachers would be required to grade parents’ involvement with their children’s education.
   Is this every teachers dream coming true???

      I think that this goes over the line a bit and is well outside the purview of a public school. Tax payer funded public education, at the K-12 level, require that the schools be accountable to the parents, not the other way around.
      
      Interesting to note, while a Democrat proposed the bill, it passed overwhelmingly by the Republican dominated House of Reps in Mississippi 75-43. In this conservative state, I wonder what was driving that?

      From the point of view of a former teacher... I see this as an absolute waste of
      time.  The parents who would earn the worst grades could care less, and therein lies the irony of a Parent Involvement and Accountability Act. The major consequence of lack of parental involvement impacts the student, not his or her parent(s).  Perhaps a monetary fine would have more of an impact on the parents.  (Of course, that would never happen.)

      Backwards Mississippi is at the bottom of the pile in education along with it's neighboring states. Grading parents is the least of their worries!

   - who ever does that will surely get an A.

   the school staff is already graded, they get evaluations and grades every semester.They either get tenure or lose their jobs.
   I've had students for years and never saw some the parents.
   No, I don't think this is beneficial to anyone...just more paperwork for the teachers, who are already overwhelmed with responsibilities.
