Ha! Got a niche site hub outranking wikiHow. Yes I do. Who else is doing good?

I had six of my hubs moved to a new niche site this week-end.  Too early to know how they are doing yet but everything appear to be working well, including Pinterest etc., .............. so looking good.

Pinterest is indeed a major player. I started a thread about that, but it got shunted, http://hubpages.com/technology/forum/13 … -me-emails

        I see they've created feltmagnet.com - I must have missed the announcement.

Yes, as far as I know there has been no announcement, only an email to myself.

Yes, my niche site hubs are also doing better than they were on the main site.

I was just on Goog searching for 'coriander or cilantro' and I noticed that a Delishably hub by Gord Hamilton is top of stack.

That's very good. Hubpages always had talented writers but they've been bogged down by spam and nonsense akin to a content farm. These niche sites if done right could allow those authors and writers to shine.

Not really... Just typed that in two days ago and was surprised to find a HP niche site ranking up there. That was the first time I entered a niche site via Google.

I just went to look at feltmagnet's home page (so that's where they're putting "photography"...).

(Can't resist sharing this, although maybe the newest people on here won't see the joke.)   Anyway, I couldn't really read the categories well (not HP's fault, my screen's) and when I saw "Sculpture" I thought for a couple of seconds that it was "Scripture".  I thought (appropriately enough, maybe; and much to my horror), "OMG!!!!   They're moving all the religious stuff over here!!!!!  WHY ON EARTH.....).  It's amazing how many visions of tons of junk from the religious forums, or religious arguments on religious Hubs,  one can have in a couple of seconds.

I've got two theories as to why HP didn't announce the latest niche site.

    A. They're tired of our bitching and moaning.

    B. Rampant theft problems.

Probably a combination of both. big_smile

lobobrandonposted 7 years agoin reply to this

What is your problem with feltmagnet? Every post of yours recently has been bashing it. Most people are not even going to look at the domain name...

      1. LuisEGonzalez profile image77
LuisEGonzalezposted 7 years agoin reply to this

The name does not fit with the topics. If I have an issue with the name that's my problem. Don't like it ? Don't read them.

Very few people will visit a photo site with that name rather than another with a more "photo or visual" sounding one. Visual arts do not fit or rather belong next to articles on how to cut plywood at Home Depot for example like some that are there.

Say it once or twice then not on every niche site thread like a troll. Some times I wish we could block people on these forums.

LuisEGonzalezposted 7 years agoin reply to this

Thread lightly before you call someone a troll. Censure yourself if it bothers you. That's how I feel about the name, period.

lobobrandonposted 7 years agoin reply to this

Yeah it's not a personal attack or anything. I do like your other posts. Just put yourself in the teams place. The decision is made and nothing can be done about it now. It definitely isn't something I would want to see again and again especially on a thread which is a positive view of the niche sites If I were working at HP.

PetHelpful is doing great from my standpoint.  Case in point.  I have been on HubPages for 3.75 years.  In that time, I have had just over 9,000 views from HubPages itself.  Since PetHelpful went live just a while back (2-3 months ago?), I have already had over 2,700 views from it.  At this rate, in one year, I will have garnered almost many views from my selected hubs at PetHelpful as I did from all of my Hubs on HubPages in four years.  Pretty good!!

I am guessing that since only the best articles are chosen for the niche sites, people are enjoying browsing the site.  They won't run into a lot of bad articles, making them leave.  Instead, they are staying and reading.

Also, since having many (but not all) of my Hubs moved to PetHelpful, my overall views have gone up by 1/4 - in just two or three months!!  I had one article on PetHelpful go what I consider "viral" (60,000 views in a few days).  It went viral with no marketing on my part.  I know "viral" is a subjective word, and some would consider 60,000 to miss their idea of viral by quite a bit.

I am hoping HubPages is seeing these kind of numbers over all of their niche sites.  They deserve to be recompensed for all of their hard work.

I have one article on a niche site so far and I didn't receive an email about - found it by accident when I was taking a look at it.

My article is on ReelRundown which is still relatively new so I don't expect traffic to pick up much for a little while yet.

      1. lobobrandon profile image87
lobobrandonposted 7 years agoin reply to this

Well a small tip: Use Tables and Lists on your hubs that are doing well. That should get you onto the knowledge graph (a possibility). But definitely worth a shot. See what kind of list or table the current site ranking has and make something better. I am going to try this out myself on another hub, would be nice to have others try it out as well.

The first one was natural, I didn't add anything with the intention of getting on the knowledge graph.

I started on HubPages a couple weeks ago. I've published a total of four hubs and two have been moved - one to FeltMagnet and the other to DenGarden.
So I guess that means I might know what I'm doing?
When it first happened, I just assumed it was a grab to keep you interested, like those poetry sites that publish your work so you buy the book, even if your poetry is garbage, haha.
