   I can't wait for hubpro basic to be done with on the hub of mine being edited. It's been 2 days now that I have not got an amazon sale and the reason - both my amazon modules are removed... More importantly they are directly related to the hub and are a necessity if you want to do what's mentioned.
   
   I don't really know what the editors have been told? Remove all amazon capsules? Or remove the ones that are not related...

      Hi, Brandon.  Your Hub should be turned back over to you today.  The delay was my fault because I didn't work over Mother's Day weekend.    The editor did leave a couple products; they are left as in-text links.  I think this is a much better reader experience.  Are you open to leaving the links and seeing how they do?

         Yeah sure. I didn't notice that On my own website the text links do work well. However, for the past 2 days I have 0 amazon clicks from Hubpages - that's my only hub with products and so it's a direct reflection of it. I don't mind giving it a week to see how it performs. I usually make a sale every other day from the hub and no clicks was a surprise.

   Now that I look at it, the hub does look a lot better with a link to it instead. I didn't know you could place in-text links and have them change over with the 60-40 rule?

      Thanks, Brandon.  Holiday weekends are always tricky with sales/traffic.  You can definitely use your affiliate on Amazon in-text links.  If you highlight a word and click the link icon, there's a tab for Amazon and you can tailor your search to be a specific product in the "or search for links about" box.

   Robin - I'm both puzzled and curious about the embedded links.
   
   I'm left wondering whether HubPages HQ's legal eagles have read the Federal Trade Commission's Endorsement Guides: What People Are Asking which provide definitive answers to questions people ask the FTC’s Endorsement Guides, including information about disclosing material connections between advertisers and endorsers.
   
   Specifically this guidance relating to affiliate marketing or network marketing...
   
   "As for where to place a disclosure, the guiding principle is that it has to be clear and conspicuous. The closer it is to your recommendation, the better. Putting disclosures in obscure places – for example, buried on an ABOUT US or GENERAL INFO page, behind a poorly labeled hyperlink or in a “terms of service” agreement – isn’t good enough. Neither is placing it below your review or below the link to the online retailer so readers would have to keep scrolling after they finish reading. Consumers should be able to notice the disclosure easily. They shouldn’t have to hunt for it."
   
   In other words I thought the FTC were not huge fans of embedded links and that's why they got very specific in their guidance.

      This is what I do on my site: <a title="Check it out on Amazon.com" href="">Text</a>
      The title shows on hover, I think it's pretty honest and a good way to show your visitors where the link leads.

         I do pretty much the same thing. Use a text link but make it very explicit where it is sending the reader plus have an upfront statement about affiliate links.

            Yup, I feel that it's necessary to inform the reader. If you provide good information, they are more than happy to proceed with your link.
