That's right, you're an entertainer. We buy tickets to games for our entertainment, and you are just a small part of what we enjoy.
When you feel your riches give you some special right to make a political stand, you should make sure of several things.
First, you had better be well read and ready to take a stand that you can defend without embarrassing yourself and the ones you have taken on the task of speaking for.
Second, you had better be ready to take the enormous amount of scrutiny you and your life will be under. The media eats a lot of people alive that think they are "special" and their past lives do not matter. I hope yours is squeaky clean.
Third, you had better be ready to start learning everyone else's views on whatever you say or do. You cannot defend yourself adequately without being knowledgeable.

So, yes, you have the right to stand or not to stand for the National Anthem. That is a right many people paid for over the past, some with their lives.
Now, Honestly, I could care less about whether you stand or not. But, I will be buying a big box of popcorn as I watch how you handle your newly adopted lifestyle.

OH, and please don't embarrass yourself with flashes of ignorance or temper. That's so boring!
    Don

Maybe he can claim "white affluency".

"Kaepernick, who is biracial, was adopted and raised by white parents and siblings."

I have commonly noticed that conservatives seem to believe that just because one is an entertainer of any sort that he or she is not to have nor express an opinion about the world around them. Rush Limbaugh is just an entertainer, what qualifies him?

I don't think folks don't think celebrities should have an opinion, I think they don't think most celebrities that take up a cause know any more about it than non-celebrities. Yet because of their celebrity they are viewed as truth-tellers. Madona said it so it must be true.

I have seen some celebrities that really do get informed and involved, Bono comes to mind, but I have also seen many that don't know what the hell they are talking about - yet claim authority because of their celebrity.

Now, if that is a Conservative's thought, what is a Liberal's? Automatic validation because of their celebrity?

The thought that celebrities were more qualified than others or necessarily have a better grasp of the. Issues at hand never occured to me. They are just celebrities with an opinion, their opinion need not be dismissed but considered among the variety of opinions and voices out there. Most of us are going to give more credibility to those that are objectively in a position to have greater and more pertinant information relative to the topic in discussion.

But I have no reason to think that Danny Glover's opinion on current events are any less valid than that of Rush Limbaugh of Sean Hannity, as none of the above are directly involved. And they are all celebrities.

I agree basically with what you and GA Anderson say, but it seems like celebrities' opinions carry more weight with the general public than those of ordinary citizens who may be better informed.

I hear you MsB, people have to critically think a bit and not just swoon, with stars in their eyes giving un warranted credibility to celebrities just because he or she is a celebrity.

Personally , I have watched as over the years so many Americans have become apathetic to  personal sacrifice .     In my mind , most immature people  like this  idiot  football "has been " do NOT  deserve the right to speak their minds about such things .   They haven't  earned that yet !

I'll bet this guy would stand when the anthem is played !

Kap ,   get a life , get a heart  and get educated about really sacrificing for others .

You would be fired in my world!
