The New Facebook Pages

   I read HubPages Weekly about the new active Facebook Pages which are on the face of it a good idea. I know mine make a big difference to my new niche sites.
   
   I went looking for a blog post or an Official Announcement about the new Facebook Pages for the new niche sites - but haven't found one yet.
   
   Maybe because Hubpages is branding these as independent and not really part of HubPages? Or did I just miss the link?  (Mind you I can never find the blog anyway - because there's no link on the home page of HubPages!)
   
   In any case, given they exist, you can now work out which are the most popular on the basis of how many likes they have. Which is interesting.......
   
   In the meantime I've been looking at them as an ordinary Facebook visitor - and I must confess I'm very confused as to what some of them are about. Quite a few of them certainly lack their "About" module and the link to the niche site. Others are a bit "too cool and cryptic" to be helpful. Maybe somebody forgot to complete the prep. work required before you fire up a Facebook Page for lift-off? (I've got five and I know the work that is required before you go public).
   
   Plus IMO the Banner Images for some are not going to work for the scope of the Page. I wonder how often they'll be changed?
   
   The other bit I don't quite understand is whether posts about hubs on each of the sites are now going to be posted to the new Facebook sites - or to the main HubPages Facebook Page as well?
   
   It'll be interesting to see what how the strategy for posting to them pans out. It's certainly the case that creating them is not enough. You have to have a plan for what's going on them and work at them to get them moving....
   
   I must confess I'm left feeling extremely puzzled as to how the links between the niche sites and HubPages central are being managed and presented to Google which was, as I recall, the raison d'etre behind all the change. 
   
   After all Google can see and does list Facebook Pages.....

   Yes, I was going to say it was announced in the newsletter but you already found that out. They don't really interest me too much, though. Most Facebook pages seem to be a waste of time as far as I can see, especially if they don't link to the websites.

      Far from it - they drive a HUGE amount of traffic - BUT only if the person running the page works it properly
      
      It's the same principle as building traffic via blogs. You MUST seek out similar sites and be a positive person who likes, shares and comments on their pages.
      
      If you ONLY share your own content then it will die a death - very fast.
      
      They also MUST:
      * link to the websites
      * say what they are about in a short succinct summary which is informative with language which works for the target audience (first rule of social media - know your audience!)
      * NOT look like they're pushing their own content the whole time. That's just BORING!
      * review their stats and work out which type of posts work best. You can forget anything which doesn't have an image or video PLUS an intelligent comment which makes people want to click the link.
