   Hi Hubbers,
   
   So,  I've been out of the loop for the past couple years while completing my bachelor's degree, and I now have some questions and am needing some advice from those experienced in earning real money from Hubbing and other writing ventures.
   
   I have the basics covered, with the adsharing, adsense, amazon.com, and SEO.  What I really need to know is what other sites are there where you can use your affiliate accounts to write and earn money?  I have adsense enabled on my blogs but no ads show.  Not too sure why unless it's because my blogs were basically dormant for a few years, but now that I'm active again - still nothing.

      If it's only a couple of years, then you should already know that Google declared war on generalist revenue-sharing sites like HubPages years ago.  All of them, including HubPages, took a major hit to their earnings as a result, and most of them have since closed down.
      
      As WryLilt says, Infobarrel and Wizzley have survived but I have articles there which have never done as well as HubPages. Essentially, if a website or blog doesn't specialise in a particular topic these days, it has no future (unless it's either a shop or a news site). 
      
      That's why HubPages is transitioning from a single site to multiple niche sites, each one specialising in a broad topic area.  The best way to ensure your future earnings is to upgrade your Hubs so they're eligible to be moved to the new sites.
      
      You may have enabled Adsense on your blog, but have you inserted the gadgets where you want the ads to appear?

         If HP is transitioning to multiple niche sites, does that mean us writers will have to determine where our new hubs will go, or will HP continue to make those decisions as they currently are?

            When you write new Hubs, they are automatically considered for the new sites within a few weeks of publication.  In that case, HubPages decides where they go.
            
            Moderators have already gone through the main site once, moving all the best Hubs to the niche sites. They based that decision on traffic:  the theory is that they want to create new sites which please Google, so why not use the Hubs which are already pleasing Google?    The Hubs already moved account for about 70% of HubPages' existing traffic. 
            
            Moderators are now sifting through the rest, to identify high-quality Hubs which may not be getting good traffic now, but which have potential. If they find one, then you get an email.  It may tell you that they've snipped (removed) some ads, or it may ask you to make some improvements (in which case you do what they ask, then use the new "submit" button on your Hubs to let them know it's done).   Again, HubPages decides where they go.
            
            The other avenue is that YOU are allowed to submit one Hub yourself, every 60 days.  In that case, you have to decide where to submit it to.

   I'd recommend using Hubpages as a testing ground. Find a topic that works well here, then launch your own website and build up traffic to it.
   
   This is what I did, years back, and I now have a 4 year old website that receives around 500,000 visits per month.
   
   I'd recommend Wordpress - $10/year for a domain, $5/month for hosting (I personally recommend Siteground).
   
   As for your blogspot blog... is your Adsense account disabled? Or do you have ad block on?

      HubPages is my home, I think I'll stick around.   I was just wondering if there were any other writing sites where one could make money similarly to HP.

         There are but most have been bought out, or closed down. Infobarrel and Wizzley have been around awhile but don't generally rank or pay as well.
         
         You don't have to leave Hubpages if you have your own site - it's still a great place to get backlinks, post non-niche articles, test with traffic and make lots of money off time based viral content.

            Sounds like HP is the place to be. 
            
            I'm just getting back into the swing of things, with a blog and several social networks.  Testing out what works best for me, you know?  Thanks for the info.
