It has been a bad month thus far regarding the loss of celebrities.

Yes, it has been a bad month for celebrity deaths. I had a feeling she wouldn't make it when they reported that she didn't breath for 10 minutes while on the plane, waiting for help. Perhaps  medical personnel would be a valuable commodity from now one. So sad.

Who could know, I hope that she was administered CPR during the period that she was not breathing on her own. But now, it is all for naught.

This has been a bad month, and what is even worse is the fact that it is not over.

I read that a passenger administered CPR, and that the plane was 15 minutes from landing. She never regained consciousness. I had the same thoughts about medical equipment or personnel on planes.

I feel so sad as I slowly see the icons of my generation pass. Carrie Fisher had mental health issues, and became a voice for those who have them too. I wonder if she was on a medication and dehydrated, that was a long flight, from London to LA. She once said she wished she never took the role of Princess Leia. Just a month or so ago, I read her last book, the Princess Diarist. She had an affair with Harrison Ford during the filming of the first move, when she was only 19. He was 34, married with 2 kids. She told him she was going to publish, and he threatened to sue. It wasn't going to hurt anyone anymore, he's into his second marriage since then.

Now today her Mom, Debbie Reynolds died too. She was 84, but I guess you really can die of a broken heart. In Carrie's last book, she seems to have come to term with her role in the Star Wars movies. She had filmed the last parts in Part 8 to come out in a year. Maybe her purpose here in this incarnation was to experience fame, as she had just wrapped up all her parts in the movie. She leaves behind a young daughter, maybe in her early twenties? So sad. Well, she's joined The Force!

Jean, I was trying to figure out what happened and learned a great deal about the nature of heart disease along the way. Victims of cardiac arrest have lower chances for survival that those that have  experienced just  a heart attack. George Michel experienced heart failure, as the underlying cause of death. While, Thicke, died of a heart attack.

They said that "stabilized' was just something Carrie's handlers were telling the press. As you say, she never regained consciousness and complications can amount to brain damage or organ failure.

We are constantly reminded how fragile each of us are in the grand scheme of things. Now that it is December 31, this horrendous year of celebrity deaths can come to a close?

Regardless, best wishes for a prosperous 2017.

Best wishes for a Happy New Year Credence. I saw the movie Rogue One today. It's in the Star Wars family, but takes place right before Episode 4, where Princess Leia programs R2D2 with the info about where the weak point of the Death Star is. It's how Luke and Han got back in and destroyed it.  They digitally created Carrie Fisher at the very last scene, as she was at 19 when Episode 4 was filmed.

I was surprised that it was a full house, the movie theaters by me are not usually so busy. It was kind of ironic that this movie was out now, at the time of Carrie's passing. It was bittersweet, sort of like saying goodbye. I always liked her kick ass style too!

That's the way that I always want to remember her, that sassy sovereign, confident and courageous leader of the 'rebellion'

That tribute  was nice, Colorfulone, but like I said in an earlier comment on this thread the terror of the month of December, 2016is notover.

Now, this very afternoon, I have heard of the passing of Debbie Reynolds, Carrie Fisher's mom. Debbie passing the very next day after Carrie's death. There are still 3 days left in this month, who is next?

Oh my, I hadn't heard that Debbie Reynolds died. It must have broke Debbie's heart when she learned of Carrie's death.  She was on my heart earlier today, I was thinking about how much she must have loved Carrie, with all her heart, and tried to help her get off the drugs and alcohol.  I don't know if Carrie was clean or not when she died, I hope she was happy, joyous and free.

That was like a 14 hour flight Carrie was on I believe, flying at a high altitude.  A person needs to be well hydrated beforehand and during, and in fairly good health for a flight like that.  I would like to know if she was taking good care of herself. Do you happen to know?

That is a good question, as it seems that she left us far too early.

I have seen pictures of her being overweight, she was bipolar and had problems with alcohol and narcotics. Although she was in recovery, you can damage your system to a point where you can be taken over the edge with something relatively minor, where you otherwise might not have been. I have heard that she was trying to lose weight for these newer Star Wars pictures. People on yo-yo diets put stress on their systems, hers already challenged.

I have heard a differing accounts from different sources, but when you put it all together....
