A news article that brings joy to my ear -

The draining starts by none other than the DNC. Who would have guessed?
We need to drain K Street...
We need term limits to drain Congress...
We need to reform the Federal Government hiring and firing practices...
We need to reform all alphabet agencies...FBI, CIA, NSA, IRS, EPA, VA...
The RNC needs to follow suit. They've both failed the people.
I was listening to the amazing mind of Jon Rappaport last night on a talk show and he had the insight that it would take a string of Presidents like Trump to completely drain the swamp because those people are hard to root out.
I believe he may be right.
You are correct. It will take time. It is the culture of DC that must change. Once that starts, the rest will follow...
If we insist that our political elected officials are there to serve us and to be a temporary assignment and that they are a public servant there to do good...and to return home to their other jobs...what ever they may be. Then, all the rest will come together.
This can happen by passing term limits for Senate and House of Representatives.
Next, Federal judges and Supreme court justices must have some limits as well. It should not be a lifetime appointment. It is not fare to the judges and to the American people they serve.
I agree, the culture in DC is not what is seems. I question the integrity of the police in that corrupt town even.
Anyway, seeing the DNC implode is a good thing, but that new leader will probably enlist more militant Democrats to join his cause. Its just insane, all of it. I'd like to see the RNC implode too...but, what the heck would they replace those un-Americans with, ...scary thought. We all should demand to get rid of the two part system.
Is the government kind of in a gridlock right now because of the two sides?
I don't mind the two sides as long as they are willing to debate issues and policy differences.
and reach a consensus bill...
I don't like the current stop the opposition attitude at all cost. Saying no is not the answer. I hope Trump is smart enough to do what Reagan did...
For one thing , He fired all of the federal employee Air traffic Controllers threatening to strike ! Everyone though OMG what will they do now ..........? Guess what , it worked .
Reagan reached out to democrats Speaker Tip O'Neil and to the American people directly to get legislations passed such as tax reform and helped the economy recover from the Carter inflation years. I remember it clearly. We had gas lines and inflation of 12%. Reagan policies reverse that and lead to an economic boom over the next 20 years.

Government isn't working so great these days. The parties are pretty divided. Let's see if there is some common ground. I'll open by guessing that we can all agree we'd like to see elected representatives operate with a balanced budget, so we can start tackling the national...

Maybe the word hate is a little strong. So why do people dislike President Obama and the way he is running the country? Are you an Obama fan? Yes, no, what is your opinion of Obama and his policies?

I am about half-way through "Man Of The House," an autobiography by Tip, (Tom), O'Neil and William Novak, and I have been thinking about my fellow Politics and Social Issues forum dwellers since the very first chapter.Tip O'Neil started his political career in Massachusetts in 1936, and...
