Has HP changed something...

   ...so it doesn't show up on our Google home page?  When I have my browser open, but have not visited any sites yet, there are icons shown for each site I visit frequently.  Hub Pages used to be one of them; now, no matter how often I visit/log in/access the site, it never translates into an icon anymore.  I have to type in the URL each time...or at least start to; it does autofill after the first couple of letters.
   
   Just curious as to why HP disappeared from my handy-dandy Google-created set of easy-access/no typing icons...

      It won't be anything to do with HP, I shouldn't think. However, you can add any site you like by clicking on a vacant +.

         What is a vacant +? All of my squares at the bottom are filled with other sites.

            I have vacant spaces. You can right click to remove a site and replace with a different one. HP appears four times on my Google speed dial page.

      I noticed this too a few weeks ago. I just saved my HP acct page as one of my favorites so that it appears at the top of my Chrome page each time I log in. Then I just have to click it to go to that page.

      P.S.  I wrote the 'thanks for the tip' from my Kindle this a.m..  It's not very friendly to use for much actual work or surfing.  Now that I'm at my computer, I tried to make an empty square into one for HP, and it did not work.  There is no way to copy/paste--the functions are disabled.
      
      So, I'm still stuck and puzzled ...

         Is there a 'settings' icon anywhere? Perhaps you can add HP via that? I use Opera and Firefox. Each has a 'speed dial' page when I open a new tab. Opera has a simple + facility to add a preferred site. Firefox seems to add most visited sites by itself.

            Yeah--Google Chrome adds sites visited on its own as well...and used to include HP, but the last time I cleared my cache, HP failed to reappear, and I have no idea how to get it there.  Trying to paste the URL into a blank box did not work; nothing happened, so I'm guessing that action is blocked by G.
            
            It's weird, all my other sites appear, like Pinterest, Facebook, E-Bay etc. and even others that I have visited perhaps once. (Those, I eliminate.)

               I found a couple of videos on YouTube but didn't have time to watch them. Just type in Chrome Speed Dial and see what comes up.

         I think you are defeating the purpose of "favorite". I only favorite the sites I routinely visit. The rest I put in the bookmarks folder.

                  I misspoke.  It had been a loooonnnggg day, and I was tired.  I meant stored in bookmarks; and there are many--folders and sub-folders.
                  
                  I have used it as "sort of" a 'save favorite' items, though, as I have seen no other way to do that.  Mainly, I use it for things I want to reference later for research.

         Yes, Dzy, you can add so many sites or pages in your bookmarks folders. Even you can group the pages into 3 or 4 folders in the bookmarks folder. I have more than 15 pages like that grouped into 3 folders which are visible only when I click the double arrows there or the other bokmarks button.
         And regarding the icons that you spoke of at the beginning, you can keep only 8 pages on your Chrome page face.

            I was not able to do this, Venkatachari; I am not talking about the bookmarks folders, but the Google icons in the middle of the page when using the Google Chrome browser.

               They automatically save when you browse the sites. They catch the frequency of your visits to any site. At the beginning, you need to enter the URL of the site for the first time or select the choices they sometimes show when you begin typing the name of a site in the browser. Thereafter, Google catches the site address and stores it as an icon in your favorites as visible in the middle of your page. It saves up to 8 icons, 4 above and 4 below it.
               But, later, when it notices that your frequency to other sites increases it drops the previously saved ones and takes the newly frequented sites.
               This is the process. If you want your previously saved site to show up, you need to delete the newer ones by clicking the cross on each icon that is to be deleted. The cross shows up when you browse your mouse over that icon. Then, it will restore the nearest previous icon and so on.

                  Yes, I am aware of how this works.  After I cleared my cache the last time, Google has continually failed to save Hub Pages to one of the boxes...all of which are empty once you clear your cache. And Hub Pages is one of my most-often visited sites, along with FaceBook.
                  
                  I say it is a glitch on the part of Google! It saves all other sites I visit with even moderate to little frequency.  It has also sometimes saved a page I've visited only once!
