Something that disturbed me - what seems to be stolen content

Just now I searched for some info on Google, and up came some veterinary info about the subject, which I read. Then went down the list to see if more info was in other web pages. The next one which seemed to be pertinent was on PetHelpful.
Imagine my surprise to find it was almost word for word from the other site! Date of the first article was Nov 23  2016, the hub Dec 22 2016.
To whom do I report this?

If I understand you, you are saying that the hubber has plagiarised the first site? Go to the Pethelpful hub, click on the flag on the left, and then on 'copied from elsewhere' or whatever it says, can't remember now. Then paste in the address of the original site where it asks for more information. The team will look into it.

At the top of the hub, on the left, you should see a symbol that looks like a flag Jan. It is underneath the social share buttons. Use this to report the hub. I would also give the link of the copied article for verification.

However, please be mindful that it is possible to back-date articles on your own website. So, it may possibly be that the PetHelpful article is the one that has been copied. Nonetheless, I did read a thread only yesterday, where a Hubber openly admitted to copying large chunks of text.

      Hope this helps.

I will never understand why people do that. I take to much pride in my own work, the good and the bad, to be able to do it.

Keep in mind that you only see the date when it was last updated, so it might be much older than that.

And I would guess that as Hubpages has some decent algorithms that catch whole page plagiarism. You should shoot a message to the hub owner as well.

As Saarith said, the date on top is the last update date. Don't go by that. Take a look at the copyright year at the end of the hub. That should set the record straight. Then you'll know who copied from whom. Hopefully the Hubber enabled the copyright notice, not all do unfortunately.

Will report it and then the team can see what they think.
Thanks for helping me with how to do this, it's not something I have ever needed before, thank goodness!

Plagiarism is illegal.  I remember in college working on my C++ program, the girl I thought was thee brightest and most clever asked me if she could copy my program because she was in a hurry. I looked at T****y with a great deal of surprise, however, call me a snitch, I told my professor about the approach.  Of all the, oh gosh, that class took work from me, it wasn't a bit easy; not like HTML or composition or speech.  I worked hours trying to debug my mess of each program. Each one we wrote was longer and more complicated than the last. I also new a lady who always boasted of the 'A' she earned in high school for writing as her entire paper, "I am what I am.". Those were Popeye's words, the sailor man in the old cartoons from the sixties.  Good for you for pointing out the lame lackadaisical, writing thieves.  They must at least cite or quote.
