GOP Senators desperate to muzzle press access to questions?

Excerpt from an article in "The Hill"

The Democratic National Committee accused Republicans of trying to muzzle the press in order to shield their legislative efforts from scrutiny, particularly on legislation to repeal and replace ObamaCare. Republicans are not holding a hearing on that legislation, which is largely being written behind closed doors.

“Republican senators want so badly to hide their healthcare repeal that they’re barring the filming of interviews in their hallways," DNC deputy communications Adrienne Watson said in a statement. "This is a pathetic and disturbing attempt to silence the press as Trump and Republicans prepare to take away healthcare from millions and millions of people to give millionaires and billionaires another massive tax break.”
    ---------------

Another refuge for scoundrels, den of thieves?
Who is it that keeps advising me to give 'them a chance' and 'just wait and see'?
I want to hear justification such behavior, who can provide it?
Are the GOP so cowardly? Yes, I suppose that they are
If you're trying to make America great again, why all the closed doors?

    Sorry, Republicans Suck!!!

Well, over the last 5 months, I have seen enough!

Hey Credence2, what do you think of the denial of the rules change by the chairman of the Rules committee, (which was named as the origin of the change)?

Was it an 'unofficial' move by the Senate Sargent of Arms, (where did he get the idea?), or an'unofficial'  move by Chairman Shelby? Was it a trail balloon that blew-up?

The sure-to-come follow-up stories should be interesting.

GA, I saw the denial, but obviously something is a foot as this complaint has been found in articles from more than just a few journalistic sources. It is a lie for the Chairman of the Rules committee to say that 'nothing has changed'

It has to be more than a mere coincidence that this new interpretation for press access, for which no one seems to know who is responsible, is coordinated with all the secret squirrel stuff that the GOP is engaged in behind close doors.

I hope that this sets off a firestorm as just another nail in Trump's and GOP's coffin.
The press is gonna to carve the rightwinger up like a beef roast. I will certainly be watching with popcorn.

We gotta have HOPE, without hope we would die.  My hope is in the Lord and I believe He is with President Trump, not so much the GOP.

The fact that the GOP and Trump need to operate behind close doors, is all that I need to see.

What's  happening in the halls of congress or the white house for that matter ,---at least  I desperately hope ---, is the eventual censuring  of the incredible bias and obstruction of today's  down-- stream news media  , all the while claiming "free speech " they are on a hyper - destructive mission to  destroy the Trump administrations obvious progress .

It would suit me and many conservatives just fine to see Trump close down  the "white house press corp" and their " moon mission" of  bias , hate and incredible mis-information , permanently

And ,It just may happen !

The  positive thing about  the threat of temporarily losing free speech protection  , is losing one speech  obstructionism.

So, your GOP is free to operate without being held  accountable? Sounds pretty fascist and dictatorial to me. No press access, what do your people have to hide? If you say that these people are on the right course, why hide it?

By closing down the press, it is just going bring more attention to Trump and GOP. That attention will be clearly negative, they are going to grab on like a bull dog. Your man is even going to have more mud in his face. The more you try to inhibit, the more determined journalists will be to get to the bottom of what is being hidden. It is a no win scenario for the rightwinger, yes? It is all just going to backfire, so bring it on.....

Any attack on free speech will not be tolerated, I will personally drag Trump's yellow arse right down from oval office before that happens.

Wrong !  As usual  Credense !, The liberal obstructionist mentality is shallow   constantly , consistently  and short lived.,  all in all it lasts only until the usual media built up hearings final moments and quickly moves on to the next false issue , phony created cause , unprovable  blurb-ism ,   I see a point , quite frankly very soon  , when the left will lose interest . AS it always does , in any politics , which  is probably exactly why the left in America  never gains any ground .

All that you politically , collectively ,  have lost and now your media is losing interest in you as well !

Prediction , 90  days , there will be no Never Trumpers  and no  phony B.S.  cause left for you to whine about ...........Crickets .

Remember, Ahorseback, no name calling and insults, right? But, I am going to attack your rightwinger positions without mercy. You can expect that.

Bill Maher and the progressive community have money on seeing your yellow tainted clown out of office for conflict of interest and the resulting culmination of all the investigations by Christmas. That will be a great stocking stuffer for the holiday season....

What you're saying would have been true fifteen years ago , Today's fake news media ?  No.  I dould there would be much outcry at all except the usual , Pelosi , Sanders , Waters , Boxer , Fienstein , whining and slobbering over the microphones .      Your media is soo biased that it's effective range of believing listeners  are merely college age street activists marching , burning , breaking and who can't actually read anyway .

Putting  out a written daily  briefing on dot .gov . and  letting  the dying media suffocate in shock ,   would suit me fine.

Trump could then get to work without  obstruction for the sake of obstructing progress only .

        1. Credence2 profile image79
Credence2posted 6 years agoin reply to this

One question, why do conservatives ALWAYS say that the press is biased against them?

When the GOP deliberately deliberate on the people business behind closed doors, I would expect the press to be as suspicious as I am. Maybe conservatives and righties make their own problems in regard to their fears of a free and open press.

Yes, the left is going to continue to resist using all legal means. We are not going to greet Trumps's barbaric policies and proposed budget without obstruction. So, like you all did with Obama, expect more of the same.

You should first , read the most recent Harvard study about media bias  in and since the election . And affter you do that , read it again because you just don't get it .

Oh, so now you give credibility to that primary incubator of liberals and progressives, institutes of higher learning, or is it merely because someone now says what you want to hear? I don't consider any one study as conclusive. But, I will check it out anyway.

This was out in the light of day, no closed doors, with lots of hope and determination!

Trump is draining the swamp and he doesn't care which side they are on.  If, they want to work with him to get his agenda in place he doesn't care which side they are on.

With all of the territorial, agitated creatures lurking...not wishing to ever leave the comfort of the D.C. Swamp and with all the Leaking like a sieve which has been taking place, maybe conducting some behind-closed+locked doors business is quite logical.

AB, it is not logical. It sound like the GOP is hiding away, what are they trying to conceal from the public that they are supposed to be serving?

Yes, and thankfully the Capital Police were at the GOP Ball Game.  I will wait a few days or weeks to see what all comes out to get more accurate details on the shooting.  There will be plenty of 'closed door' talks over this, as there should be, its only logical.
