I have no idea whether tweaking helps or not - but every time I discover some new tip about Hubbing, I go back and apply it to my Hubs.  Some of the "tweaks" I've done include:

      1.  Making sure every one of my Hubs has at least one photo and one Youtube clip.

      2.  Moving my first photo down so there's enough space for an ad in the top right hand corner of all my Hubs.

      3.  Including links to my other related Hubs in the body of the text.

      4.  Changing all my Amazon capsules to specific products (with a description) instead of keywords

      5.  Adding a News capsule to keep the content fresh.

      6. (Still working on this one) Adding a links capsule with 10 links out to related external sites.

Have you tried looking for Hubs on this topic?  Like, Improving Your Hub Earnings.  There are dozens more if you search HubPages.

I just read this Hub - worth reading and learning from, Karpouzian!

If you get this one figured out, I'll have to check back and see how you did it.  So far, a couple of my oldest Hubs still earn the most pennies...the ones I've tweaked haven't done squat...and some of the newer ones are getting good traffic but zero clicks.

    It's a conspiracy, I tells ya!

Either that, or I maybe should take a class on How To Write....

I always tweak my hubs that are getting little reads with Title changes, extra pics or videos or text and always get extra reads !

Maybe doing keyword research using Googles keyword tool. You may find that a keyword that was doing great when you wrote the hub needs to be tweaked to make it more profitable.  For instance maybe  "Patio Umbrellas" was huge last year but "Outdoor Umbrella" is the top earner this year. Just a couple of wording changes may make a difference.
