Just now I noticed that my 'the best way to take care of a rejected lamb' hub got 183 hits today of which 73 came from reddit.com. I've never been on that website so how come that I get so many hits from there all of a sudden. Did someone leave a link there to my hub or something?

Usually that means someone has posted a link to your article. Maybe someone created a new thread about finding an abandoned lamb and someone recommended your advice. Congratulations on the extra exposure! smile

@ Christy, smile I come in peace. May I ask you just what is Reddit? Thanks for your response in advance.

I'm sorry to say that clicks from Reddit is recently a source of malicious activity. I have not so far been able to figure out why they post links on Reddit to legitimate articles, but they do it.

If you have access to Google Analytics, you can trace back the source of the clicks to the original page on Reddit. Every time it happens to me, it turns out to be some joker who is just messing around and bragging about the greatness of Russian hackers and their ability to mess up Google Analytics.

Then again, I hope for your sake it's legitimate traffic. smile

That's so weird. I came home from work to find that my total views are double what they have ever been before. The extra views are all from one hub through imgur and reddit. I am talking over 700 views on an article that usually gets about 10 hits a day, sometimes up to 40.

      I don't have a clue what happened.

If it keeps chugging traffic it could mean that it is being upvoted on a subreddit there. That means it stays higher up in that subjects news feed and stays more visible to readers.

@ Sherry smile just wanted to share with you that the Rock Songs hub that took me hours and months to research, plug in, write and edit is finished. The name? "A List of My All-Time Enduring, Savoring Rock 'N Roll Songs," and it had (at) 4842 words plus intro and videos to go with this work.  And it was all thanks to you. No, I did not copy any of your work. I even wrote you ahead of time and you said it was fine. I threw that in just to touch all of my bases. Thanks again.

A word of caution:  there is an etiquette to posting on Reddit.  You cannot use it to solely promote your own work.  If you want to post your hubs on Reddit, the ratio is 9 links to other sites for every 1 link to your own hub or website.  Anything more is consider spam and can get you banned from posting.  I am an admin on the herb sub-reddit so I know (and enforce) the rules.

Plus if I'm not mistaken, it's possible to be shadow banned on Reddit. Discovered this after posting for years but eventually discovered that my post's couldn't be viewed when logged out.

I never have any issues posting in my subreddits. I do add relevant links other than my own and interact with the community. Just ''dumping and running'' on any social platform is a bad strategy.

Great for you! Just be careful and follow the advice that Old Roses gave you. It's easy to be accused of being a spammer there, post links to other things besides your own work. They are a very nasty crowd, unless you get accepted by a group on a sub reddit where you share an interest with someone who has been there for a long time.

I didn't post anything. I havent' in a long time. They were very hostile toward anyone who posted a link to their own Hubpage. Whatever happened this time, I had nothing to do with it.
