Need help with internet connections

   I don't know who else to turn to.  I need in simple language how can I get the internet for my laptop only.  I go to the lake a lot and need to have my own source of internet.  Is there a stick or a prepaid something for laptops.
   Please help me.  I need this to be able to get on here more and publish my hubs.

      I often camp where there is no wifi and thus no internet for my laptop.  If there is phone service, with data (recently found service but no data at one location), I tether the laptop to the phone.
      
      Barring that, satellite internet is available.

         Thank you for your help.  Phone service usually doesn't work at the places I usually go to.  I've been writing articles about different lakes in Oklahoma, and I hike through the woods and camp.  I just need something I can plug into my laptop and use. I appreciate you commenting on my post.

            If there is no one providing wifi, about all you're left with is satellite service then.  I run into this a fair amount as well, but it's not vitally important to be online every day for me, so do what work I can and then upload it when I get the chance.

      Hi. I just use my smartphone. go to your settings and scroll to the one that says hotspot. Make sure you have the passcode entered in the spot and when you are out somewhere or camping. then go back to settings and turn on your hotspot. as long as there is a mobile tower nearby you can use your phone provider for the connection. Then go to your laptop and turn on Bluetooth and they should be able to find each other and connect.

         Thank you but where I live smart phones don't get a signal.  I don't even own one.  I do appreciate you responding to my question.

            Your only option then is to go to a computer store and get a stick or wireless device for your laptop.

               Those work off of cell phone signals, so if you can't get cell service, you won't get internet that way either. I think Verizon is still the service with the best coverage. You could try getting a hotspot device that works on Verizon. You won't know if it works until you try it though. If you want to try it, you can get a no contract plan, so at least you can quit if it doesn't work out.
               
               You can get portable satellite devices too, and they work pretty much anywhere, but they cost quite a bit more too.

   To get access to the internet, you need to be able to get a signal. If there's no mobile phone reception where you are, then the only alternative is satellite, and that's expensive. 
   
   However, you don't need the internet to write Hubs.   In fact, it's much better to write on a word-processing program like Word, or even Notepad or Wordpad, than to write directly on HubPages.  That way, you have a copy of your Hub in case anything happens.
   
   So, while you don't have access to the internet, you can be writing and polishing your Hub text.  Then when you get back to civilisation, you can create some new Hubs and copy the text in, add some photos and you're done. 
   
   Bear in mind that it's not necessary to participate in the HubPages community to be successful here.  Most of our most successful Hubbers never follow other Hubbers, or read or comment on their work. They're too busy writing!   So not being able to interact isn't a big concern either.
