A Google alert on my name brought me results from a new site, which has exactly copied Hubpages, as well as making their own fake verticals.

The main site is spb . ru

There are sub sites on it though, including:

    mcenter . spb . ru
    arttek . spb . ru

They've replaced the word "Hubpages" with "Storyteller" all over the site.

Lol, I just clicked on the mcenter link and saw this, the Hubpages logo is still there and pasted to the top but obviously you cant click on the menu bar because it isnt the page for Hub Pages just a photo of the top of the page. Then the arttek is a rip off of a page called We have Kids and then calling it story teller for kids - with articles on parenting and families - Can the moderators or shut it down or what happens when this usually happens? Has is happened before. Are you able to report it if its plagiarized use of your work? That's crazy

If it's a russia site, not much you can do.

Plagiarism is not a crime and not really what this is about.

it would fall under copyright law.

Russia does not care about U.S. copyright law.

Much of the world does not care either.

Laws are either nonexistent, or unenforced.

China is also a hotbed of it...and they don't care much.

Most of the really serious spam sites I've ever come across have been Russian i.e. they have the .ru extension at the end

The only way to get round them is to get Google to "bin them" i.e. take them out of the Index by proving you are the copyright owner.

You do that using their Legal Removal request process

Your Google Copyright Removal Dashboard - shows you the status of DMCA notices you've served on Google

+1  If enough of us complain directly to Google, they'll remove the entire site.  Just follow the directions given on this post.

I don't think that this is going to have any negative impact on your traffic. But it does sound unsettling...

Just to be clear  - there are hundreds of copies of my articles spread across the Internet and I no longer pursue DMCAs unless the content outranks me in Google. But I thought I'd post so anyone else with copied content can pursue a DMCA smile
