Is it worth me making an Amazon affiliate article?

   I don't have many Amazon affiliate links in my articles, with the exception of one that focuses on recommended ebooks. I've had an idea for an article where I recommend gifts, but I'm wondering if it's actually worth it from all the recent forum posts complaining that people's Amazon capsules are getting deleted.
   
   Is there anyone here who continues to find success with Amazon capsules? How many can you have in one article? The hub I was thinking of making would have around 6-10 of them with a description for each item. Is it worth it or should I dismiss the idea?

      Hi Poppy, it's really hard to get that kind of article accepted these days. Have you got a blog or another site where you could publish it?
      
      The alternative is to write the hub, full of lovely gift ideas, but only include one or two links to Amazon. Then every now and then you could edit it to add another - and see how far you can get with it.
      
      The trouble is, when you get an idea in your head like that it needs to find a way out

      As others have said, this type of article won't work.  However, you could compare two products and say why you prefer one over the other and then post an ad for the one you like.
      
      One ad is best, two would be the most I would put in to any hub these days.  Sometimes, if you use an inline text ad, you can get three, but that would be pushing it.
      
      Personally, I think it's best to write an article that lends itself to placing an ad for a product, not a book, but a product, and then mention it in the text capsule stating your experience with it, why it's the right one to use, etc.  Also put a description in the Amazon ad.
      
      A good trick, too, is to create articles on a similar topic and then place an ad or two in each one.  That way, if someone clicks on the link for the other article, they get to see two to four ads instead of just one or two.
      
      The ideal thing is to write a stellar hub that includes a product or two that gets tons of views.  When lots of people read, many become customers!  Check out my two hubs on cleaning RV tanks and you'll see what I mean.

   Once upon a time, that kind of article would have been welcomed on HubPages.  Now, it's not worth it.  HubPages' Amazon rules don't allow us to offer a variety of options to our readers - they expect us to choose the best one or two products only.   
   
   It is a shame, because very often - as in your gift example - it's impossible to choose just one product.  Take lawnmowers as an example:  I can recall an excellent Hub which recommended five or six different lawnmowers, each for a different type of user and a different size of garden.    Logically, it would be silly not to provide an Amazon link to buy each type of lawnmower - but it's unlikely that would be allowed on HubPages now.  It would be seen as too many links.

   @Marisa the lawnmover article should be allowed. If you take a look at my wall mounted range hood article you will see one way of how it could be done. There is no real limit to amazon links as long as it's done right.
   
   In response to the op: I would suggest to use text-based links and not capsules in most niches. Books is one of them where text based links would look better and flow well.

         There is no rule set in place. It all depends on the article and the way you put in the links.

      This is an extremely well done article, but I will point out that it was done by Paul, one of the owners here at HP.  Not sure if any of us would have the same result.  Also, the photos are outstanding and , if you notice, he uses his personal experiences throughout the hub and keeps the ads, themselves, as in line text capsules.  Very cleverly done.

         It would be disappointing if Paul sought special treatment for his pages, but then, would any editor have the nerve to snip his carefully researched ads, lol?

         Note that many of those pages are pretty narrowly focused (longtail keyword phrases) such as: 40th Birthday Gift Ideas for Your Wife, DIY Valentine Gifts for Him, Non-Religious Christening Presents for a Baptism
         
         Read them and see what kind of approach they take. I reckon folksy for gifts, alright darlin's?
