Why I'm Losing Tolerance for the Left

The recent unrest at Berkeley is showcasing the growing intolerance of the left. The violence perpetrated against a group of people who apparently did everything possible to avoid confrontation is appalling. I don't know anything about patriot prayer other than what I can find in google searches but, upon finding the following comments from the person who was one of the organizers of this 'right wing white Nazi group' as the left wants to call them makes me realize that the white powers that be within the left are using what can only be described as manipulation in order to create havoc.

Here are comments from Joey Gibson and others within the organization which attempted a peaceful assembly that was attacked and shut down, denying their right to free speech and peaceful assembly.

I'm not white. We have about eight speakers and only one speaker is white. We have a couple black speakers, a Hispanic, we have a transsexual speaker, we have a woman speaker. It's very diverse. It’s really just about what’s on the inside. What you believe, your heart, your soul. It has nothing to do with skin color.

No extremists will be allowed in. No Nazis, Communist, KKK, Antifa, white supremacist, I.E., or white nationalists. This is an opportunity for moderate americans to come in with opposing views. We will not allow the extremists to tear apart this country. Specifically, Richard Spencer and NathanDamigo will not be welcome.'

“What’s more important is to dispel the myth that it’s all KKK here,” he said. “Obviously I am not a Klansman. They’re trying to lump Trump supporters in with a group that is pretty much nonexistent. We are hopeful for an open, obvious dialogue.”

Suffice it to say that although I have attempted to be understanding I consider the left to be fomenting unrest and supporting terrorism in order to deny citizens of their constitutional rights. I suppose we are moving towards a new civil rights movement where we will have to force the government to crack down on those who feel they are somehow obligated to ensure others not enjoy the same freedoms they think they are entitled to.

Trying to sort through the news articles, I finally gave up.  Simply could not crack the "supremacist", "nazi", "anti-nazi", "counter protester" barrier.  Sounds like you did better, figuring out what label was being applied to what group.

"Suffice it to say that although I have attempted to be understanding I consider the left to be fomenting unrest and supporting terrorism in order to deny citizens of their constitutional rights."

This should not be a surprise - we saw it at Trump rallies, we saw it at University functions, we even saw it in Charlottsville.  That it has returned to Berkeley, known for it's strong stand on free speech (lol) should have been expected.  These "alt left" extremists do not wish others to enjoy the freedoms they do.

It's getting a little scary in America. Supporting the right to free speech, truly supporting it, gets one a label of being in favor of Nazi's and pedophiles. If anyone doubts it, read the threads in this forum. Although, I do find it funny that an organization whose rally included speakers of diverse race and sexual origin would be labeled 'white supremacy'. I hope someone on the left will come in and attempt to explain this convoluted reasoning.

Oh please, (roll eyes),  if you don't know what you are talking about, then quit labeling all non-rights as antifa - because you are doing the same exact thing antifa is doing.

I also wondered about the Patriot Prayer, so wrote to antifia located in West coast and I was given a link. Read the link and the antifa top image was wrong with a hoax.. To me this is like high school shit going on.

I'm not here to argue, or change your mind or represent anything other than myself a lone person. But right off the bat I see something that I have to respond to.

"Tim Gionet and Jake Ott displaying a hand-sign that is ‘totally not white supremacist’… except that white supremacists keep making it, to try to prove they aren’t white supremacist."

          my answer:

The Anti-Defamation League, which keeps a record of hate symbols, does not include the “OK” gesture as a hate symbol and has this to say:

The ‘OK’ hoax was actually just the most recent in a recent series of hoaxes in which 4channers (and members of other similar places on the Internet such as 8chan and Reddit) have tried to take innocuous items, symbols or gestures and falsely attribute white supremacist meanings to them in order to fool liberals and get them to spread false messages.

Well said, although I don't see the reasoning as convoluted at all.  Free speech simple means that "you can say anything I agree with", that's all.  To the left leaning hate mongers, anyway - our forefathers that built this country and even the modern "middle" and right appear to have a much different definition.
