   So who is Henrietta lacks???? It would take to long to answer that so go on line and search for her by name or type in HELA cell. This woman died from cervical cancer in the 1950s in america but her cells have been behind every major medical break through since then, from polo cure to AIDS treatments to cures for cancers. However this was all done without her or her families consent. As i stated look her up and read her story.
   My question is this, i feel if she had lived she would have most probably given consent but she did not live and so here it is her body and rights even in death were violated and i know it was the 50s and she was African american but did the end justify the means? It still goes on today unknown to the public but it is right? should one persons rights be removed even in death to save the many? and if yes how many peoples right is to much?
   I must say that what her cells have done for all humanity is nothing short of saving it from out right destruction and if not for her cells the human race would be a very very different place indeed.

      Looks as if her cancer cells were what you are talking about. Cells obtained from a tumor was biopsy.
      
      Are you arguing that a medical facility should not be able to use anything obtained from a biopsy without consent?

   No the biopsy was not the issue the issue came about in the culture of her cells which does and did require consent,nor was she or her family compensated for their use. One sentist estimated that 50,000 meteric tonnes of the hela cell have been culture since.

      Cells derived from a tumor biopsy which were cultured. It was an abnormal growth. Your argument, from where I am standing, lacks merit.

   The point I am trying to make is two cell samples were taken without her consent one lot healthy one lot cancers is taking a persons right to say no ok?

      I can only find evidence that cells taken from her tumor were cultured. She did consent to a biopsy; I'm sure.
