Full Width Gray Capsules?

   I recently updated an old hub, to get rid of right shifted capsules.  I had three, all little "blurbs", additional interesting tidbits of information that the reader might like, and all three were gray in the hub.  Making them full width, of course, removed the coloring.
   
   The hubs were then "snipped", I guess as a result of QAP, which was fine.  But all three of those small text capsules showed gray in the link to where the changes were showed.  Unfortunately, they aren't gray when I look at the hub; a shame as the coloration really added something. 
   
   Is there a change in the works that is "half finished" or something to allow colors in full width capsules?  It would really be nice!

   Wilderness, You can use the callout capsule if you want the text on a gray background.

      Can it be done for a short text capsule?  A couple hundred or so characters?  And what will Google make of it?

         I never checked to see if there is a max limit of characters that can be placed in the text section of the callout capsule.
         
         Google sees it the same as text in a text capsule as long as you place the text in the text section of the callout capsule. (Try saying that fast three times. )
         
         Any text that you put in the title section of a callout capsule will be a <h2> subtitle for Google.
         
         By the way, callout capsules have three settings. You'll want the default (first) setting to have a gray background.

            Thanks, Glen.  I haven't used those capsules much, and what I did, I used them as headers.  I'll look into it.
            
            Just checked: text limit is 500 characters.  Plenty for my purpose.

   I totally agree Dan. I've brought this up a few times, but it's probably low priority in the list of things staff intend to implement. A limited choice of colours would be ok. It's not as though we want gaudy, multi-coloured hubs. A yellow or orange background colour would be useful also for callout capsules used for safety warnings in hubs.

   I just tested it out, and apparently the text limit for callout capsules is 500 characters.

      Yes, there is a message when typing into the capsule to the effect of "xxx out of 500", indicating a max of 500 characters.  I didn't check if that includes spaces or line feeds, though.

   I was just wondering about my grey text boxes to the right, as I know photos are supposed to be full width so as to be seen on mobile devices. Guess I will be changing my grey text capsules to the Callout boxes that I use already.

      Photos and everything else must be full width.  That's what I'm doing - changing all those right shifted capsules to full width.  If they're short enough they can fit into a call box.
