    Greetings -

More often than not, when I first open a hub, it breaks about three inches from the top and puts in some spurious adverts, like this:

    Dog Food
    Looking for D...
    Find exactly ...
    search.ebay.com/D...

    My Account
    My Account av...
    My Account. S...
    search.ebay.com/M...

        eBay AdContext

and the rest of the hub appears below. Then if I reload or refresh the page the ads disappear and the hub displays properly. I'm using Firefox usually, but I've had the same thing with IE7. Any idea what's happening here? Thanks.

    Hello again -

I asked this before but probably didn't explain very well. Often, when I open any hub, I get a spurious ebay advert on the left, about 3 inches from the top. This breaks the layout. After one or two page refreshes, it goes away. It happens in Firefox and ie7, and it happens on different computers. The crazy thing is, the advert is always for dog food! I've tried clearing caches and everything I can think of. Has this somehow got stuck in my profile, or are other people experiencing the same thing? Any help welcome. Here's a screen grab of what I'm seeing -

It is the HubPages getting their share of page impressions from ads from Ebay.

Thanks for the response, but I still don't really understand. Surely it can't be in hubpages' or ebay's interest to display ugly, broken adverts in the middle of main content? It looks naff, to quote Princess Anne smile

Well, I suppose it's taught me something about optimisation - as these guys are the professionals, it must mean that misplaced, ugly, irrelevant, barely comprehensible ads are the most effective after all wink

(that was a response to a comment that someone whose name I've forgotten posted, but he's deleted it for some reason. Pity - it was a good comment. Now it just looks as if I'm spamming my own thread - oh well...)

I have those sporadic ads in mine sometimes too.  They are ugly.

I just got those very same ebay ads in the hub I edited this morning.  They really mess up the layout.  I thought it was a bug because an error message popped up when I first saw those ads.  The error message also said I should report the error so I did.  I hope it gets straightened out soon.

I'm very glad I raised this topic, now that I see it's a common problem and one which really does spoil the otherwise simple but clean look of a decent hub page.
