I just noticed one of my hubs was copied to Flixya and while checking the person's account for my DMCA request, I noticed other hubbers' work.

    the account is flixya.com/blog/yezhanjun043

You may want to check. Lissie, you definitely want to check. One of your hubs is there.

    Flixya's dmca address is dmca@flixya.com

They are pretty quick with removals, generally.

Does hubpages tell you that there is a duplicate on the web?

Yes, HP will flag the Hub. Just check in your *my account* tab to see if there are any flags. hmm

Wesley, look for a red "c" next to your hub titles, that indicates that the hub has been copied someplace.

I guess my hubs suck because no one has copied mine yet tongue

You're lucky.  The last one that I lost last week went to a site where the owner put the last half of the hub first and the first last, it doesn't flow sensibly.  I made him put a link to my Startup Biz page but jeez, I'd rather he left it alone.

I don't think everyone has copyright symbols showing yet for hubs that have been potentially copied.

We will alert you if we detect a copy, but we certainly don't catch every single occurrence.   If you want more protection you can try copyscape, but with their fees ($0.25 per page per month), it would probably only make sense to protect your best earning hubs.

I'm about ready to give up. One of mine was copied to SEVEN different sites this past week, and five were at Flixya.

I can't spend all my time sending out DMCA requests. If I'm going to get hit seven times in one week on a single hub, then I give up. I've got about a dozen copied right now, and I just don't want to deal with it anymore.

Flixya is definitely the worst though.

Just send the list of urls to dmca@flixya.com with a properly composed dmca request. They will pull them immediately. My email yesterday was acted on within a couple of hours. While the site users there are a pain, the management is pretty responsive.

I can't believe these people are allowed to do this! It's so unfair, thankfully I have not suffered yet but I hear of cases of copying at least once a week on the forums and thats just the ones we know about! There should be harsher sanctions.

Totally agree and maybe, just maybe a software package could be developed to flag copied material on the site it's being copied to.

I'd definitely go for software like that.

'Course, the one I REALLY want to see is the gem that can tell you in real time just how deep a page is buried on Google, such as, "Well, Ghost, your Hub on Idiots In Outer Space is right now hitting number 12,094 and dropping...."

I've dealt with this before and found that Flixya acted very quickly in removing the dup.  It was pulled down and the person's account closed in less than 24 hours.

Did you just email them or did you mail the duplicate content letter to Google via snail mail? Maybe I'll try asking the administrator first. Last time it didn't work and I had to go through Google. It's so frustrating.

I went through the site, Pam.  In my email to them, I stated the facts - date I published and where; linked to the offending page.  The next day when I checked, it was gone and the person's account was too.

Since Fixya is running AdSense, it's completely worth it to file a DMCA complaint.  They have to take that stuff down ASAP or risk having their account shut down with Google.

Or you could just complain right to Google if you wish.

This is just sad.  I'm sorry for you all that have to go to all the work to report the thieves!

Someone should write a hub about how to file a DMCA request or how to best get rid of thieves, with google.  Mark Knowles said something about having their adsense account banned.  If there is something out there I haven't seen it.
