I am an utter movie buff---and so my last Hub was about 3 Memorable movies endings I LOVE...I'm curious to learn other opinions...
The Wrestler
When he's at the end, doing what he loves because he's said "f*ck you" to everything else in life and after he has lost everything. Even though he knows he will die if he carries on wrestling, he still carries on. It then ends with him doing his signiture move, diving through the air and it pauses. You don't know if he dies or not.
Mickey Rourke is a fantastic actor. It's a great, heart wrenching flick.
Yeah, Mickey Rourke stand in that category where pretty much any flick he does, you know he will deliver a great performance--loved him in Angel heart also I knew he'd be great after seeing Rumble fish..I was really young when I spotted that one! Kudos for Matt Dillon in that one as well..
I haven't seen any of his other work...apparently his career had gone off the radar until 'The Wrestler'. Also, apparently he is going to be the badguy in 'Iron Man II'...should be good,
AH...you must be wwwaaay younger than I am... Let me know if you'd like a headups on what flicks to watch--with Mickey in it. Yes, he went way off the radar back in the late 90's...but still remains a great actor in his own right.
Umm, back in the late 90s I was...well if we say 1997 then I would have been 5 or 6 years old haha.
Man....and Ha is right...I have t-shirts that are older than you!
He's not in Sin City is he?
Wait a sec...is he Marv?
That is one of my favourite films of all time...I didn't know he was in it! I'm well chuffed now
I surely did, and what a difference his character made..I think its what I remember most actually...
I meant Andrew awesome movie...love it!!! I could go on and on about movies..but how about No Country for Old Men? for the ending...
I still haven't seen it...but I've heard nothing but praises about it.
Pan's Labyrinth.
In the end the little girl get's shot by her step father for trying to save her baby brother from him because he was a war criminal.
Anyways, she was expected to sacrifice her baby brother so she could go back to her own world where she was a a princess of the underworld but she had to pass some task.
When "Fawn" the fawn asked her to give him the baby, she refused and the Fawn got pissed off at her and she got shot. So she lay there dying near the porthole to her own home and a single drop of her "innocent" blood spill into it.
She dies. But then she is back home with her family as the Princess. He father wanted to be sure that she didn't become like the violent people of the upper world because she had been gone for eons.
Anyways, in the end she wins because she would rather give up her own life then harm, hurt or sacrifice an innocent baby.
Plus the movie has really cool Fx.
Great one Sandra...I think I read the spanish version book...when I was younger...so as I watched the movie, the scenes/characters popped out just as it did in my mind...a long time ago..
~
The bit at the end of Catwoman. The ending. It was utter rubbish.
You mean you saw the entire movie.. and the ending was rubbish?...If memory serves I couldn't watch the movie for more than 15 minutes..as it was terrible from the get go...Is this one with Halle Berry?
I saw bits of it. I kept falling asleep. I noticed the ending because it meant it was over and I could bugger off home.
It was awful. I watched the whole thing cuz once I start somethign I finish it if I can. But it stank. AND so did having to see hubby see Halle in a cat suit...yuck..men can be so gross...
Yeah I'm with you on that one..I think that's what I did..was playing on the tv...and I fell asleep...but I remember being annoyed with the bits I could remember...
True Grit, when John Wayne says "Well come see a fat man sometime." Then he jumps the fence on his horse and rides off.
Star Wars: A New Hope. Of course, the beginning and middle are also the best. The ending is simple enough. The princess rewards the heroes. But John Williams' score makes it magic.
I arranged that theme for organ and had it played at my wedding, it was that good.
One of my all time fav movies is "Mister Roberts" with Henry Fonda, Jack Lemmon and James Cagney.
And the ending is absolutely the best.
The Sixth Sense had a pretty good ending.
Psycho.
Once Upon a Time in the West.
The Godfather.
Scarface.
Casablanca.
Fight Club.
Too many good ones to keep up with, really.
Yeah I agree Davinagirl... waaayy too many good ones..The sixth sense was great and so was fight club---excellent.
The Others was another I love...
V for Vendetta, for what is essentially a comic-book movie it contains many powerful moments, the ending is not the least of these.
Pretty Woman.
Taken.
Hitch.
The Illusionist.
Oceans 11.
The Negotiator.
Enemy of the State.
Got too many Davina, I'll be back.
the end of The Sting is brilliant
I ALSO LIKE THE END OF
confessions of a shopoholic....
Evil Dead 2. Bruce Campbell trapped in medieval times takes a magical portion thats supposed to make him sleep for a century and wake up in his time. He takes two drop instead, and wakes up at a time when the world has been destroyed. He screams and the movie blacks out. What's better than that! Sam Raimi is da man!
Usual Suspects has one of the best endings. You spend all this time trying to figure out what's going on who's lying and when Verbal starts walking normally, you realize that none of it really mattered. It also has amazing rewatchability. "And just like that...he's gone!"
Robin Williams in Cadillac Man. His character is a real sleazeball, life is on the skids, sells cars, even tries to hustle a widow during the funeral procession for her late husband. Then he and everyone else in the dealership get held hostage by an unbalanced young man. Robin talks the kid into letting everyone else go and finally into giving himself up.
The S.W.A.T. guys shoot down the kid--who had unloaded his weapon but refused to walk out into the sunlight without it for fear of looking like a wimp. Robin swears at everybody, then hustles the head cop for a possible future car sale. On the way out in his own set of wheels, he looks into the camera and says with feeling,
"GOD, I LOVE TO SELL!!!"
Rhett Butler to Scarlet O'Hara..."Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn."
Gone With The Wind--My all time favorite movie. Loved the ending.
I hated how in the book Scarlet acted like her life was so over because she was 28 years old. The whole thing was written as if twenty years of her adult life had passed, and it was only eleven years between 17-28. Gee, I love the book and the movie, but today this just seems funny. I really never like how movies end, even the good ones .
Donnie Darko had a great ending. And Boon Dock Saints might be my favorite ending.
My favorite movie endings are as follows: Phantom of the Opera, Interview with the vampire,Rockstar, and edward scissor hands. There are alot more of course i love movies! It is to hard to come up with all of my favorits XD
Sixth Sense (excellent ending)
Titantic (yep, the ending when she drops the necklace into the ocean)
Saving Private Ryan (ending was blissful and so sad)
Platoon
Good Will Hunting (loved the ending)
That's my top
I'd strongly vote for Saving Private Ryan.
The ending was so sad and it was linked to the beginning of the movie. It shows Ryan's loyalty to his saviour... I loved it.
ohmy--yes what a great feel good ending Shalini! Makes me miss New York so very much!
V for Vendetta (hence the avatar) when all the masked civilians rise-up and the Houses of Parliament blow I get shivers.
I forgot to mention another great movie ending which is: Fight Club, where everything gets insanely twisted
Man!! Great call Shamel....I loved that ending to Fight Club(as a matter of fact, I just saw this movie again a few nights ago..for like the 20th time)...! I mean the unraveling of all the elements...
Excellent writing different and yep twisted ending...
Breakfast at Tiffany's
You know what's wrong with you, Miss Whoever-you-are? You're chicken, you've got no guts. You're afraid to stick out your chin and say, "Okay, life's a fact, people do fall in love, people do belong to each other, because that's the only chance anybody's got for real happiness."
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BOIZ3RSU … p;index=33
Devil's Rejects, when they were trying to escape the police but they were trapped and they would rather die together than get caught together. guns were blazing while their speeding in the cadillac convertible trying to smash through the police cars. Cool bakcground music as well.
Yuck! That movie had its moments but I really can't stand the ending.
I can't believe nobody has mentioned There Will Be Blood: "I'm finished!"
Other notable mentions:
Monty Python's Life of Brian, featuring the absurdly inappropriate but irresistible Eric Idle tune "Always Look on the Bright Side of Life."
Happiness. The Wrestler, which was previously mentioned, is another great pick. Bad Lieutenant...
Have to give it to "life of Brian"... always look on the bright side of life!
The final dance in Dirty Dancing
