Willing to Trade: Clicks for Traffic

   I think I've decided...  Clicks are the real money makers.  I get 130+ traffic (yeah yeah, that's a lot for me, ok!) on one of my Hubs. but only about <snipped - against AdSense policy to disclose> clicks a day from <snipped - against AdSense policy to disclose> cents a click.  Traffic in general really isn't paying.
   
   What is a good way to drum up click traffic?  Relache, Knowles I assume you two make most of your income from clicks based on the hubs?
   
   What can/should I do differently?

      Your CTR appears to be pretty decent.
      
      You need to get more traffic to make more money. There are just two ways to do this: write a lot more hubs, or get a lot more backlinks so that the traffic to existing hubs rises. Both are a grind. No easy way to do this I'm afraid.

      First, show some patience.  Do you sit and watch your daffodils grow?
      
      If you're getting a lot of traffic but no clicks, there are two possible reasons. 
      
      One, the ads aren't relevant to your Hubs. That could happen if you're not using your keywords enough in the text, and Google can't work out what your Hub is about.
      
      Two, you're writing about topics which attract people who aren't interested in buying anything.

      You need to target your words for people who will do certain things.
      
      1. Buyers go after Buy, Purchase, Order, 5 best, 10 best.
      
      2. Learners like to Learn How, Know How, How to.
      
      Combine words like these with the subject of the hub like this.
      
      Order Braided Rugs Online
      Learn How to Braid Rugs Online
      
      The ads you serve would probably be of interest to the groups and they are ready to click.
      
      Something like "The Beautiful Braided Rugs my Mother Taught Me How to Make", probably will be more warm hearted, get lots of hubber comments, and take much longer to make any sales, if ever.

      I get lots of pageviews a day but rarely get a money making click.  Much more, I'm not getting anything from Amazon and e-Bay so I totally removed them from my hubs.

         The same with me. I haven't earned a cent with Amazon and my earnings with AdSense are very-very little. It's a pitty...

         I think it comes down to subject again.  People who come to your Hubs are looking to solve a technical problem - they don't want to buy anything.

   First of all, don't talk about what clicks earn if you actually want to keep you AdSense account, as Google's TOS actually forbids such disclosures.  Having your account canceled isn't too good for the ol' earnings.

   Really the only thing you're doing wrong at this point is thinking you should be earning or earning more.  I just passed the three year mark, and things didn't really get going for me until I'd been here two years and had .  You do get the benefit of HubPages now being a big established site with a good rep, something that didn't yet exist a few years back, but otherwise, you have to write (efficiently, not necessarily copiously) and wait.

   Your generalized talk about your clicks and earnings does not endanger you.
   
   I would love to hear about an example of someone whose account was terminated based on actions on a page that did not display their adsense id.
   
   You are welcome to disclose information about your gross earnings with AdSense but not disclose other account information, including but not limited to, page views, number of clicks, and your click-through rate.
   
   You may comment on percentage increases or decreases based on changes you've made, but please do not disclose the exact numbers other than your gross earnings. (For example, you can say "by changing the placement of my ads to above the fold, my clickthrough rate increased 500%
   
   If anything would be a a dangerous statement, it would be your original forum title, as it is suggestive of clickfraud. But without reference to your sites or including your pub id, the bogeyman wont find you
