    Heres the thought:

If you have been writing on HubPages for a while Im sure you have a few favorite hubs of your own that just havent got the traffic you wanted, the score is never high enough, the comments poor or lacking.

You think why isnt this hub more popular, its great!

Well, put a link up here and let us read it

Cool a thread where a hub promotion is encouraged!

But, heres the rub, Everyone else is encouraged to roast, trample, edit, nitpick and disparage your favorite little guy.

Is it an SEO hub about backlinks that has no backlinks? Is every 3rd word a typo? Is it very obvious that english is not your first language? Is it downright boring?

Well, let us tell you about it.

perhaps you will get some perspective, some free editing or keyword suggestions, it might work out positively for you.

But lets not do it to nicely.

    Anyone in?

Lol, I wouldnt submit that article, its cruel and unusual punishment to expect somebody to read all the way through that...I was just responding to the misuse of the word SPAM w/a link to the definition and history of such a term.

But Ill certainly work in some pics, I really just expect to let that one languish and die - eventually break it into 5 more manageable reads with better optimized titles - i was thinking I could show hubbers who were at the stage of wanting to    create their own sites the basics, but it didnt go over well -lol, hell i even spent 5 hours making a custom video for one of the articles... i think it got like 40 views ever..bad idea

          Thanks for reading it though!

    1. sunforged profile image70
sunforgedposted 14 years agoin reply to this

      ah..no fair!

      this was rather delightful

I thought i could insult the misspelled url "ryme" but w/ a little research i see that the word is highly searched for and has a relative cpc as rhyme! SO was probably a wise choice. there might even be a ryme niche to be exploited!

Im not one to rip apart poetry, I cant judge your meter or point out change of voice, perhaps another poet will be fair game on this one.

So just to stay within the roast theme, the hub is visually kind of ugly - the mass italics are painful, some bolded quoted text would be preferable

Alright, the whole thing is in poor and broken english, its not conversational and doesnt flow well

The entire first section is pointless...why explain what your going to say, instead of just saying it?

Your introduction is half as long as your entire hub

In your comment you point out that you just learned all of this from wiki and similar sites, which makes one feel like they never should have read it, also you didnt cite or reference or link out to any of these authority sources you gleaned

I would cut that comment, clean up grammar throughout and edit the intro to half its size.

Will that get more readers, no, but it will make it readable

just trying to get the ball rolling

      some positive suggestions, lol

      The idea was:

new Hubbers can drop their link in the hub makeover threads. and we all nicely say

"ok, honey, you should write more than 300 words and maybe add an amazon capsule and a picture, oh and by the way what does the word "bestiest" mean ? Perhaps , you should run a spellcheck?"

Here, more experienced hubbers (with thicker skin!) could really dissect each others work with no mercy

Has anybody ever been part of a writers workshop, or written for a newspaper or taken art classes with peer reviews!

The word "roast" ..adds a little qualifier so we all know its in good fun

Seeing what the other writers think can help us all to think and up our game and grow in our respective arts

We all volunteered, why the fear to actually review?

Okay, I'll take a shot at roasting Mommyfreelancer ... and as this is a roast, it's all in fun ... but I will give me REAL opinion below

      Let the roasting begin:

Pictures, eh? Let's take a look!

Oh, imagine that. These are pictures of MY vacation. I knew you were stalking me the whole time. Allow me to explain what these picture REALLY are of ... wink

Picture 1:  This is the volcano the natives tried to throw me in minus the water, of course. They filled up the hole when the authorities came to investigate my claim

Picture 2:  Appears to be a near-sighted caterpillar mating with what it believes to be a leaf bug. Poor little guy. I tried to explain it all to the little bugger, but my breath smelled of tequila, and I found myself in self defense over drinking a past friend of his

Picture 3: It's a picture of me ... losing my lunch as I got off the boat in the background ... seasickness is a beach

Picture 4:  A picture of hope? Hope for water, maybe ... Look how dry that dirt is! I soiled myself on this dirty run while struggling on a binge to find my condo

Picture 5:  I remember this guy ... We went out on the town to pick up chicks, and I woke up with a hangover ... lying there sans pants in a chicken coop ... oh, the shame!

Picture 6: I was told this was the local bathing pool ... I was never told people went over the falls in barrels ... caught sixty stitches when someone at the top flew over to meet me at the bottom

Picture 7:  This isn't really a tree ... it's a giant human fly trap ... Took me three hours and two fifths of scotch to escape!

Picture 8:  I got pulled over here. When I explained to the cop I was only going one way I was cited for DUI, failure to obey street signs ... and for being an idiot!

Picture 9:  Strawberries! Yummy! Delicious! And an excellent allergen ... received eleven shots in the gut after eating them and I'm still itchy!

Picture 10:  This is a before picture ... after I entered the building, the roof fell in on me ...

Next time you decide to follow an alcoholic on vacation, catch the REAL highlights, like when I was out with the Malaysian triplets! Well, I think they were triplets ... I know they were by the time the night was over ...

      My REAL critique:

I think this hub is very well constructed and with some very fascinating pictures. If anything, I would like to see a video added, but we can only work with the material we have. Well done! smile
