I'd still be writing, still be publishing, here on HubPages.
I was in the habit of making webpages before the arrival of Web 2.0.
That was before we had friends, fans and followers at the click of a button. Can you believe it, people did actually publish things even though there wasn't some kind of measurement of how many people were following you (or pretending to be a fan).
Here's my tip: Write for yourself. Do it regardless of lack of feedback or even negative feedback. Do it because you love it.
I reckon that is great advice, after all, the learning takes time, so enjoy it!
That's very much my approach too. My money comes from the day job. Writing is recreation.
Darkside, you are rite. I have been doing that. Writing for myself for like more than 3 years now and on some quite static sites which are still static because I have designed the template and no wordpress installed there.
BUT, getting fans, followers, good traffic, rising income, sales, comments, appriciations, discussions, all these bucks one up to work even harder and work nonstop. Trust me there have been times I have wanted to run away from working hard online when I didn't have fans, followers and comments because my earnings dropped. But now because of these fans I want to keep on writing. Maybe this is the reward. Maybe I am not as much in love with writing as you are.
Despite all I have written above, your suggestion is wonderful and is sort of a best policy in certain situations.
I do it because the more I write, the more the traffic and clicks rise, therefor the more the money.
I also do write for me. Actually there are so many friends who visit me from various part of the world. everytime I spend some time going over with them lot of stuff.
for stocks options, I discuss whole day. So I started writing to point to my friends to read my thoughts and then we discuss this next day.
So I am writing for myself and for those who are like minded and my find it in Google. So far 700+ views of all hubs together. Not bad as I am just focussing on what I know.

What is your opinion of all the Hubs that are written as tributes to other Hubbers?I see a lot of Hubs written thanking followers and just tributes in general to them. I think that is a wonderful idea, but just wonder how they show up in Google search engines.

You can't. Just had to put that out there as I'm seeing newbies all over the forums going on about these topics lately.Serious money comes from getting views from Google NOT from having other hubbers visit your work. Some of the top hubbers on the site have separate accounts NO ONE knows about to...

Hi, everyone! I'm making $0.01 per day or even less on some days, and I have already been actively writing Hubs for about two months. I have 14 featured articles so far, I think that I'm doing all I can, or am I? Am I missing out on something? Or is this the normal learning curve and should I be...

I am still new to Hubpages and have been enjoying a rather successful start. Thank you to those who have voted my articles up and those few of you who have begun to follow me. But I have noticed one thing of late and maybe it is the way it goes but I think it is disrespectful. I have commented on a...

Hi All, So, this might not seem in the spirit of hub pages comeraderie, but I am a little uncomfortable with having a particular member follow me. The name is ZAGOOTO, and he has no profile information, no hubs, but 11 followers. Who on earth is this person? Why is he "following" people...
