   I too am sorry for the girl but I am surprised that in an opne society as that in US this kind of things are feared. It can be see in some parts of India and some middle east countries but wasn't expecting it in US!

   No where even remotely near as often as in 'some' parts of the world, but it does happen. Crime happens, and there are crazy-ass people in every country.

   If I were her I would just run away again.  If she keeps doing it eventually she will be eighteen and they cannot force her to go home.

   There are a lot of closed small towns and ethnic neighborhoods in this country where all sorts of things happen that you never hear about.   
   
   This isn't an Islamic or even a religious issue, it's a cultural one.

      I hope some organization helps her go into hiding. After she's 18 she won't have to go home. But that doesn't mean she's safe. These fanatics might just go after her anywhere.

      That is a valid concern. I agree that it could be the talk of fanatics on the other side as well. But I would still keep her very safe. And let the family dynamics work themselves out in the future, if this is possible.

   What jerks! To kill someone just because they don't want to be the same religion as their parents. Closed minded fools! I agree with Nelle and Sweetie Pie I hope she keeps running away until she is 18.

   I had a student years ago who went from Iran to Greece on a student exchange program. While there, he converted to Greek Orthodox. He ended up in the US because Greece wouldn't let him stay beyond his program of study and if he went home he would be beheaded.

    no child looks that distraught and freaked out who is not in genuine fear for their life.
    she should be kept away from her dad and wait for a year.
    if the mule headed authorities take her back i would say that is evil.
    if i was her i would break a law and go to jail before going home.
