I am open to helpful critisism and hoping someone can help me out on the newest hub that I have posted Crystals and Polished Stones Galore. It is longer than the 500 word count I usually do and it has great pictures that I took myself. I even state where I got my information from which I seriously thought was a plus and yet my hub only recieveda 50 for a score.
Could someone please read it and give me helpful hints on raising the score for this hub? I'm happy with it except for the low score and would totally appreciate the help. Thanks!
hey crazed,
i generally don't like getting in the area of critiques, letting the students do that instead, but hopefully the students are asleep, and since you asked....
here's an idea for the images. tomorrow, if you have access, take the books outdoors, find a place with north light (north side of a building, in the shade) and photograph them there. prop them up to help eliminate the converging lines (wide at bottom and narrow at top). this solves two issues: the specular highlight of your flash reflecting off the jacket cover and the converging lines. it creates another issue, the cool tone of north light, but i think you'll find the other two advantages outweigh the cool feel. another suggestion, if you don't have access to photoshop or aperture (apple), is to go into picnik.com. there you can adjust the color temp of the images if they're too cool for you. also, if your camera allows, get as close as possible to the stones. rot: when you think you're close enough, get closer. try photographing them in natural light, at sunrise or sunset to help create shadows (depth) and to provide a warm glow.
maybe an additional capsule for the last couple of paragraphs.
Thanks sooooo much blue dog. I really appreciate it! I will definitely do that tomorrow with the pictures. I never thought of that before...taking the pictures outside. That is a perfect idea!
And as for a new capsule..still really new lol how do I add a new capsule?
looks like you're already doing the capsul thing. agree w/fayans. also, i didn't check for keywords in your photo captions, but if they're not in there, you might want them to be.
Nice hub, Crazwriter. If there is one thing I'd like to suggest is to use one text capsule for each type of stone with the right heading. Just so you know, what you put into the heading carries a lot of weight in search ranking...
Anyway, worry not about hub score (most people do though)...each time you finish writing a hub, ask yourself, where can I get a relevant link pointing to my hub?
That's what matters most!
PS: I'm suggesting based on the fact that you're here to make money. Otherwise, ignore the above tip.
So far great ideas but it's still a low score. I know I shouldn't worry about it but I still want a higher score. anyone else have ideas for me? thanks!
just adding to the free photo editing software
picasa is awesome for quick cropping, fill light, changes in image size and other small edits
it is highly suggested (and free)
Ive been a photoshop user for over ten years and i still turn to picasa for the type of simple edits required for hubs or ebay..nifty watermark feature too
As far as the hub goes I wonder why those books are not showcased in amazon or ebay capsules? Easy product images, potential sales?..were none available through either venue
It wont effect your hubscore but the first phase of teh article could benefit from being broken up a little by some art
what will help your hubscore:
You have no outbound links - add 3 or 4 relevant
Find a video and a rss feed, stick it under the comments if you dont really want them there
those 3 capsules - plus some ebay or amazon capsules will pop you up 20 pts min overnight
Thanks sunforged. I'll find some cool links and add them in there. appreciate the help!!!
Better late then never!
I can't see much point in including pictures of your books. Instead, sign up for Amazon then look for the books on there. Add an Amazon capsule and list the books using their ASIN or ISBN code (you'll find it on their Amazon page). Include a sentence or two reviewing each one. That way you stand to make some money on the Hub!
Don't put all your pictures in one photo capsule. Put each one in a separate photo capsule (you'll still get the gallery effect), then play around with spreading them around more. You may have to split your text up into more capsules - remember you can have a paragraph in each capsule, if you like.
Otherwise,good content.

One or two of my hubs have fallen victim to the "does not meet quality standards" empty bubble. In one case, I imagine it is because the hub falls under the "purely personal" category, better suited to a blog. That's fine. I can move it. (It's an older hub...

Other Seasoned hubbers- please help me understand a hub score of 61I tell myself not to care as long as I continue to be profitable, but I swear I am at my end with the lack of communication on how hubs are rated. I have read the posts about it, and my article meets the requirements. My article...

Last night I went in an edited a capsule so that it would be full width, which is what HP wants everyone to do. The article I edited has been published and featured since 2012. When I went in and edited, however, the editor that read it decided that it was no longer going to be featured. I was told...

Today I noticed that when I click on the 'go right' arrow in Amazon capsules, it brings me to the top of the page and I have to scroll down to the capsule again to click on the 'go up' arrow to place it next to a text capsule. Is this a glitch/bug? I can't recall I had this problem earlier and...
