The good news: one of my hubs (on using music to cope with a long distance relationship) has proved itself to be a good, steady source of traffic, especially from search engines.
The bad news: despite using relevant keywords in the url, title and text and a month of waiting, the ads served are mostly intended for those looking for a "long distance move," not those surviving a "long distance love."
In fact, moving ads could be angst/envy inducing for some readers...
How do I fix this? I don't see this as a great topic money-wise, but I don't want to be missing out entirely.
Any tips? Anything I'm obviously doing wrong?
Can the adsense competitive ad filter be used for just this one page, or only for all my hubs all at once?
Check your keyword density or wait it out, as Google scans your page it should get more relevant. Although what it does is checks some keywords that are available so if you sneak a couple more in there without making it look spammy it should be more relevant. However if neither of those are possible... Maybe publishers don't bid on that word? Google your word and see what ads are relevant on the top and sides of the pages if they are relevant and should be on your page ITS DEFINITELY your keyword density.
Google seems to be moving backwards as far as "scanning my page to get more relevant." I have a few hubs on "hearts of iron" which is a strategy pc game. "Hearts" is used 20 times, "strategy" 21 times and "iron" = 23. "hearts of" and "hearts of iron" are both used 17 times.
The first day or so the hub was up I was getting relevant ads related to strategy games or pc games. Now I look today and every one of my hoi hubs has 3 of the exact same "kramers law" doctor/lawyer ad.
I guess google is picking up on "heart" now instead of the longer keyword chains, that are actually used in my tags and title? Strategy ads aren't really worth a lot but I'd still rather display somewhat relevant ads for anyone who might be interested in strategy or PC gaming.
Thanks for your response. Here's the content of the first text capsule -- is the "keyword density" poor?
The adsense is picking up on "long distance" just fine, just not the bits about music, love or relationships.
If I wrote a hub about Manhattan, Kansas, would I have a similar problem, in being served ads about NYC?
How many products related to long distance love can one sell? Hence the lack of relevant advertising
long distance relationship, long distance relationship tip, long , distance , relationship, ldr, long distance relationships, relationship, couple, boyfriend, girlfriend, romances, long-distance relationship, love affair, long term separation,
The above are tags from articles on page one of google, relating to LDR's. Maybe they'll help?
I checked out the whole page, they were the commonly recurring ones.
I have the same type of issue in a hub about Disneyworld passes. The ads posted are entirely inappropriate (sexy photos, Bollywood Pictures, Bikini photos) none of these “words” are even in the hub let alone the title, Keywords or Tags. I don’t get it.This is the page tell me what you see / think.

I will look but I'm not an SEO queen. I just read a lot and studied how others present their hubs etc.
Disclaimer: I am not a professional. I am an amphibian.
At least you are a notch or two up the evolutionary scale
tags: disney world pass, disney world hopper pass, disney world park hopper passses, disney world specials, disneyland world, disney world specials, disney world discount tickets, disney park, disney pass, disney passes.
You can use all, some or none. Those are what I dug up. Also, make use of headers. 'Disney World Passes' Disney World Specials' etc. And try and get your keyword near to the headers without going mad or overstuffing the hub.
Go read a hub by Lissie, that relates to ad placements. Some stuff about headers etc, you'll probably glean quite a lot from it. It's well worth the hunt/read.
If some tweaks work, great.
And I saw what you wrote
Thanks I check it out. You are quite astute for an amphibian.
Almost a sentient being.
Yes. Not quite living. To the left and ever so slightly above dead.
I have much in my almostness to be thankful for.
Thankfully just above dead. Tell me are you using the other affiliates offered (kontera, ebay, amazon)in addition to adsense and do they work well in coordination with adsense.
I have amazon and am yet to focus on it. I intend to. I don't bother with kontera or ebay.
When I do make best use of amazon, I will write for amazon. I doubt I'll ignore adsense because of how I write but my aim will be amazon product reviews.
And you will need to start a new post asking for what you're looking for. It may go unnoticed if left in here.

How do you really trust your partner to be faithful? Is long distance relationship gonna work for you? This question always bugging me. Please give me some advice.

Time apart does not bring you closer together; despite what fairytales, movies and books tell you but being clingy doesn't help either. Distance cannot fill the void of actually having that person there with you but it can make the heart grow fonder. There's an upside and downside to long distance...

He has auditioned for Drum Corp International and hopes to get into either Phantom Regiment or Boston Crusaders! I talked to him over the holiday season and...
