What is the best way to drive traffic to your articles?

   Hi everyone. I've written two articles so far, and hope to write more. What do you people do to drive more traffic to your articles?
   So far i have not posted any photos on my articles, basically because i dont know where to get photos or how to post them. Do photos make any difference to the hubscore or to traffic? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

      While images are great with articles, what matters more is the content. Providing valueable content, targeting your keywords, and writing about in-demand topics will also help increase the flow of traffic you are looking for.

   Oh yes, that's right. Thanks for reminding me.  I was going to put up a photo for my profile but i'd rather not post a picture of myself, so i thought i would find some nice or cute picture that reflects who i am. But where do i find photos and how do i post it?? And in general, besides for the photos, what can be done to drive more traffic to my articles? What do all you folks do?

   In some way yes your photos might help driving traffic to your page because people love reading when they have something to imagine related to the article they are reading. If you don't add photos, your article will look boring and dry. The internet and SEs will provide you with photos if you just know how to find it. What are you writing by the way, maybe I can help you in getting photos.

   Thanks everyone. 1weddingsource, I have written 3 hubs so far. One is about how people learn to spell, one is about making cleaning the kitchen easier, and the other is about the days before modern technology and how thing were better in some ways in those days.

   Any traffic generation has to be done with care.
   I mean caution.
   Social networking is great, but over do it and BANG! you are outta there.
   Submitting to search engines is good.
   Getting links from high PR sites is good.
   Pinging still works for me, no matter what I've heard other people say.
   Forums that allow your URL in your signature.
   Also, take a look around Hub Pages, there are some great Hubs on generating traffic that go into deep detail.

    Just a few.. 
    
    Submit your URL to various directories.
    
    Put your profile URL on the auto signature of your email.
    
    If you have personal websites put your link on it.
    
    When you answer questions on the internet e.g yahoo Q & A, put your URL in the answer box after answering the question.
    
    These are just a few. I got these tips from Hubs so really the best thing to do is do a search on HP and you'd have at least 50 more tips.

       Careful with this one. They'll suspend you for spamming if you put your links in the answer box or the link box at the bottom on yahoo answers.

             Yes, but HP do not allow links.  Yahoo makes provision for the links as a source of info to where you got the answer to the question. I found the tip in a Hub, have been using it and Yahoo seem ok  about it.

          AV, I've been inserting my links into Yahoo answers for a long, long time....way b4 I found HP. I always make sure that they are relevant to the question and help with the answer and I haven't been spammed yet. And they appear to be good DoFollow backlinks.

             Suit yourself, but I'm only saying be careful to everyone else. It does happen, and I keep seeing it recommended as a way to get traffic.

          There is a box where you are asked to put your URL source of information (after answering the question) and that's where you can put the link to your hubpage. So, e.g. If I answer a question on weddings, I would put my wedding Hub link in that box as source of info. It's acceptable.

                YA! is kind of time intensive to use as a real promotion source but it certainly works well and it is allowed to place any links you like for reference in your answer(esp your own)
                
                yes, people get flagged for doing it clumsily, but its not very hard to set up a new account anyway.
                
                As for free photos that can be used for commercial purposes, creative commons is hands down the best resource.
                
                if you use firefox, the creative commons search is already built into your searchbar..just click the little arrow next to the search box the drop down will show, google,amazon,answers,yahoo and CREATIVE COMMONS!by default

    Yes photos do in some way increase traffic to your blog, but really photos increase content in your blog so it can be recognize by the search engines.

    Flickr is a great place to get photos! That's where I get the majority of mine. To find more, just do a net search for "creative commons photos."

       I use Flickr all the time - I rarely have to look anywhere else.  Just make sure you include a hyperlink to the photographer's Photostream in your Hub, that's a condition of using the photos.  Use the "Advanced Search" and tick Creative Commons.
       
       
       
       Be careful with this - I tried it, and it gave me a lot of images that weren't Creative Commons licensed at all.

    A bunch of hubs on increasing traffic.  To be honest, I didn't read them all.  Who has a hub on increasing REVENUE GENERATING TRAFFIC (extremely different from ordinary traffic).   I've only written 3 hubs but I can already tell the difference.  None of my hubs have been revenue generating, however I have some ideas.

       revenue generating traffic is specific to understanding your target audience and creating a  page or hub to fit their needs.
       
       Your hub title and keywords should reflect an audience that is searching for a solution to a problem or question that involves money.
       
       ex)
       Product comparison between two phones
       Buy I-Phone
       Best deals on iphone

    Driving traffic to your article can be done by;
    1. optimizing the search engines to get traffic from outside sources
    2. writing articles that people will love to read with an eye-catching tittle.
    3. Give every hub your best shot.
