I'm a relative newbie around here, so don't shoot me down if I'm asking something that's pretty obvious, but one big question I have is why HubPages doesn't allow you to add a link to a photo?!
On so many websites, it's almost always assumed that clicking on a photo will direct you to the original version of that picture, or else a site pertaining to that photo. Is it because HubPages content is all original stuff?
For an example, I recently created a hub with a photo of a CD cover, which I was wanting to be able to write under the photo: 'Click on album cover to hear selections from this CD' - allowing another window to open up with some mp3 files that would play in the background - but I was unable to do so.
Again, I'm sure this topic has been brought up and discussed before, but I couldn't find anything about it.
I have wondered that before, but its probably because they do become links when you have 5+ images on a hub.... but a link to a slideshow.
Those slideshows can be utilised to gain a lot of traffic, I have a hub which got me 31 page views today, but 300+ slideshow views.
Remember that when you upload an image, you are given the opportunity to compete for google images traffic. If I upload an image called big_red_shoes then anybody searching 'big red shoes' on google images will find my photo at least somewhere amongst the pages.
I guess that having that capability is of more benefit to hubbers than the simple ability to link. Just a guess though.
Are you just talking about the file name you have given your photo on your computer to be uploaded or the caption of your photo? If it's photo file name, guess we could better name photos to get hits from the likes of google images like you mentioned.
In the photo capsule, there is a checkbox next to the words "Let readers view the original, full-sized version when they click on an image?" If you check that box and save the capsule, then your readers will be able to see the original photo in a pop-up window when they click on an image.
You are right, though, that we don't currently give you the ability to create an image linking to anywhere you want. I suppose that we could do something like that in the future.
If I read what ryankett was saying correctly...the file name of our photos we uploaded can be found by google images in the search engine if we name the photo with words or keywords appropriate to our hub?
I believe that Hubpages renames the images. You can right-click on a picture in a hub, and view its properties to see the filenames that Hubpages uses.
Keywords in the caption can help though.
The name of the file when you upload it is used as the search term for google images. The name of the file when you download it differs (it is given a code).
But I have given my images a keyword name, uploaded them, and then found them on the first page of google images for that phrase.
So I am certain that I am correct.
That is interesting. I will have to give it a try.
Having pictures with links is very cool.
Have you been to Squidoo? It is implemented there. If you create a lens about the top ten bookstores, you may include colorful banner of each bookstores and when someone clicks on the the banner they are taken to the bookstore's site.

I haven't tried to have a plagiarized page removed from Google search since the change to the niches. How do we prove ownership if we no longer have access to webmaster tools for our pages? My recent request was rejected on this basis:'Thanks for reaching out to us.It is unclear to us whether or...
