I notice a lot of bickering back and forth in Hub Pages about God and such but the thing that gets me most is how much those that quote and stand on certain scripture don't really even understand them fully themselves...

The latest comments I read were about Hell. If a person ever does a simple word study on the subject of hell they would learn that being thrown into the lake of fire is to be 'burned UP... the 'SECOND DEATH' -- which is a complete destruction of something; first the body (the first death) and then the soul (SECOND DEATH). Only the ALREADY ETERNAL beings will be tormented day and night 'forever' (which the word 'forever' needs another word study too because it doesn't mean forever like we use and understand it today).

I suppose you're not stating this as 'truth'?   If you are, you're no better than the others

The idea here is that most of the 'rants' and bickering between people is done because their arguments are really over theology and the 'ideas' that they have in their heads, rather than doing a simple word study or looking at historical events (which are plain and simple facts).

There are no historical events about a second death. If I'm wrong tell me where, but don't quote the bible, because those are not facts nor historical events.

      "Another day ,good morning hell,
What lessons for today I cannot tell."

We are in hell and paradise or heaven is another dimension which one goes to on death.

Its only someone who knows god , an enlightened one can truly understand the meaning of the scriptures. Its the experience which counts the most and every master will tell you that you need to experience this truth for yourself.

The idea that there's a fabulous place waiting for us beyond this 'hell' we are supposedly in now lends itself well to justification for any number of crimes against the environment.
I think we're supposed to be stewards of this place. Does anyone think we'll get judged on how we treated this earth and its other (non-human) inhabitants?
If my grandfather loans me his car and tells me that someday -if I'm good- I'll get a better, fancier car I'm not going to just take a whiz in the loaner and fill it with trash in hopes that I'll be moving up to the better ride soon. Wouldn't you think there's a bit of a test (I know religious types like tests, no?) in such a situation?
