My mom has always made a Norwegian dish as long as i can remember, Since she is part Norwegian I think these are authentic.  Frikadelias are like mini meat loafs made much like a regular size one. The ingredients are ground beef, parsley, salt ,pepper, ketchup, and an egg.
Mix all the ingredients in a bowl and form little oblong meatloaf (flat on the bottom)-not round like meatballs.
put them in a pan and back about 35 minutes at 350 degrees. She usually served them over egg noodles and light meat gravy.

This is an asian receipe usually made for tea breaks and breakfast. Its simply called FRIED BANANA .To make this you need:
    80g Self-Raising Flour
    80g Rice Flour
    1 tbsp Tapioca Flour
    440ml Water
    ½ tsp Baking Powder
    ¼ tsp Baking Soda
    ½ tsp Salt
    1 comb Ripe Banana
    Oil for deep-frying

Sift the three types of flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt in a large bowl.
Make a well in the center, pour in water and mix well to form a smooth batter.
Dip the peeled bananas into the batter.
Deep fry in hot oil (180°) then reduce flame to low heat and fry till golden brown.
This is how it would look like once done. Enjoy

Why do you not open up a word document call it Web Recipes or HUBICPES, then hold down left click button and drag it down the recipe that you like, right click and select copy hop across to the Word Document and right click and paste it in.
Then you have the story and any photos as well, all in a single document.Type in the hubbers avatatar next to the title of the recipe.

That way we do not have to kill too many trees to print reams of recipes. big_smile cool

    Crackers and cheese

    Ingredients:

    3 crackers
    3 slices of cheese

Enjoy this recipe my grandma handed down from generation to generation...originally the crackers were made out of sandpaper and the cheese was slices of lard!

waynetposted 15 years agoin reply to this

I'll have to consult my grandmas cookbook now, ah yes I see now my list was missing a vital ingredient, butter!

So you spread the butter on the cracker and then slice the cheese and place it all on the cracker taking care not to over hang the cheese too much as this would cause people to complain the cheese could fall.

And there we have it crackers n cheese!

New recipe:  Microwaved chestnuts.  Make sure you slit little cross on each nut.  This serves the dual purpose of blessing each nut with the Sign of the Cross and allowing steam to escape.  If you do not cross them, the Adversary will cause them to explode.  Nuke them for three minutes--- I would do this in separate increments of one minute each so the steam can escape the nuts.  God Bless.

I found a recipe for Sugar Free strawberry cookies and they are in the oven right now!

    Very simple and good:

    1 box Angel Food Cake
3/4 cup sugar free strawberry preserves
3 tablespoons mini semi-sweet chocolate chips

Mix the cake mix and preserves on low speed with electric mixer until blended, then beat 1 minute more.  Stir in chocolate chips.

Drop by rounded tablespoon on greased (non-stick spray) cookie sheet 10-12 minutes at 325 until tops are just starting to brown.  Cool on pan for 1 minute then move to cooling rack to cool completely.  Makes about 36 cookies, more or less.

    Enjoy!

One really good one I think I saw on a tv cooking show here in the UK:

make a baked potato/jacket potato as usual, then cut it clean in half, scoop as much of the potato out them and mash it up good and proper.

Then add tiny slices of ham and grated cheese, mis together until it becomes a decent mix, then scoop the new potato-cheese-ham mixture back into the hollowed out jacket potato halves, put under a grill until the top gets crispy.

    It's great!

We call that "twice-baked potatoes" . When baking potatoes-- you might as well put twice as many in the oven, then  with the unused ones that have been stashed in the refrigerator, you can later scoop, mash, add the extras (Sour cream and chives, cheese, bacon, whatever sounds good) an quickly  bake, microwave or broil for another meal.

Great potato recipes there a must try.

    My favourite breakfast potato balls.
As many large potatoes as there are people
                     One large onion
                     Good Pinch of salt
                     Ground Pepper to taste
One teaspoon finely chopped mixed herbs fresh or dried
                     Flour
                     Teaspoon Baking Powder
                     Oil for frying

    Grate the potatoes and onions
    Add Salt Pepper and herbs
    Mix together until well blended
Heat some oil for frying, either shallow or deep, your preference
Add a teaspoon of baking powder to a tablespoon of flour
Then combine this  to the Potato mixture and blend it well, if the mixture is too moist and runny, add a half a tablespoon of flour only to the mixture.

Spoon test - take a teaspoonful of the combined mixture - hold it above the bowl turn the teaspoon over and tap it on the side of the bowl. If the mixture comes out when you tap it, it is ready.
If it plops out as you turn the spoon over it is to thin a mixture - add flour
If it needs to be scraped out of the spoon and sticks to everything - add potato

Fry the batter teaspoon by teaspoon in shollow or deep oil until golden brown
Drain and keep on a hot tray - serve with sausages and eggs a great breakfast or brunch.

For a more health friendly version

Make them up into small flat patties and dry fry them on a griddle plate, lightly brushed with olive oil to stop them sticking. Take care not to burn them

Someone  mentioned wanting recipies that promote health..so here is my Vegatarian Chili. It is loaded with FIBER , is low fat and has a good amount of  vit A.
My husband is a die hard meat and potatoes guy and he likes  this meatless one. It is filling and delicious. Much like other chili recipies you can add as much chili powder as you like. This recipe has one tablespoon of  chili powder which puts the hottness to about 5 on a scale of 1-10.
    1 can black bean soup
1(15oz) can kidney beans, rinsed and drained
    1 (15 oz)can white beans
    1(16oz)can baked beans(vegetarian)
    1 8oz can crushed tomatoes
1 15oz can whole corn kernels
    1 onion, chopped
    2 celery stalks,chopped
    2 cloves garlic,chopped
    1 Tablespoon chili powder
    1 Tablespoon dried parsley
    1 Tablespoon dried oregano
    1 Tablespoon dried basil
Add in order to slow cooker, give stir and cook 2hr on high.
    or
Add to dutch oven and heat med till it begins to bubble-reduce heat to low, simmer for 40 minutes.

    Notes:
--Once, I couldn't find black bean soup so I used black beans and it was fine.
--You can use italian seasoning to substitute the parsley, oregano and basil. But use only 2     Tablespoons.
--It makes great leftovers the next day after the flavors have cured but doesn't freeze well.

The Most Dangerous Cake Recipe in the World

    5 MINUTE CHOCOLATE MUG CAKE!!

    4 tablespoons flour
    4 tablespoons sugar
    2 tablespoons cocoa
    1 egg
    3 tablespoons milk
    3 tablespoons oil
3 tablespoons chocolate chips or (optional)
A small splash of vanilla extract and your favorite tipple
    1 large coffee mug
Add dry ingredients to your largest mug and mix well.
Add the egg and mix thoroughly.
Pour in the milk and oil and mix well.
Add the chocolate chips (if using), vanilla extract
Add a drop or two of your favorite tipple, then mix again.

Put your mug in the microwave for 3 minutes on 1000 watts (high).
The cake will rise over the top of the mug, but don't be alarmed.

Allow to cool a little, and tip out onto a plate if desired.

    EAT

(Can serve 2 if you want to feel slightly more virtuous)

If you’re feeling very, very naughty, cover liberally in Bailey's Irish Cream.
And why is this the most dangerous cake recipe in the world?
Because now you are only 5 minutes away from chocolate cake at any time of the day or night!

Here is my baked macaroni and cheese recipe.  Like all the women in my family, I had never really used a recipe, but decided one holiday to write down what I did and go from there.  I did check out the recipes in Mark Knowles favorite American recipes hub.  I think this is different enough to post.  I agree with many of Marye Audet’s tips in her hub on mac and cheese.  This is a pretty large recipe, as I usually wound up making it every holiday for our flight get togethers while I was in the Air Force.

6 cups cooked elbow macaroni, drained but still hot
    1 stick butter
Combine macaroni and butter in large, deep sprayed glass cooking dish.
    4 eggs, beaten
    3 cans evaporated milk
    12 oz sharp cheese, shredded
12 oz extra sharp cheese, shredded
Mix cheese through macaroni.  Beat eggs and pour over macaroni,  Pour milk over macaroni mixture.  Start out in preheated 350 degree oven.  Bake for 40 min, remove, stir and return to oven.  Increase oven temp to 400 degrees and bake for another 40 min.

This is best served hot as the texture of the dish changes significantly as it cools.  I usually set some aside or make a second small macaroni and cheese for leftover Dunbar Macaroni.  Combine your leftover mac and cheese with browned ground beef or lamb, a can of diced tomatoes and a can of spaghetti sauce.  Heat all ingredients together, breaking mac and cheese into chunks.

I’ll take that as a compliment and a vote of confidence.  Of course this means I need to make a nice big mac and cheese so I can get some pics.  My household will support that!  Hmm, maybe a video clip to show the perfect fresh out of the oven texture.
