I know on Squidoo, you're not allowed to write about Hoodia, Gambling, and a couple others.
Are there are topics not allowed on Hub Pages?

Obviously here you can write about Hoodia, I see at least 3 hubs a day on that topic
So just gambling and porn? Cool! We have some buildmylens.com customers who wanted Hoodia lenses, but now I can tell them they can have Hoodia Hubs! LOL
Sounds cute!

Just another diet pill that won't work. People think they are "generating buzz," about it LOL
Tiffany - not so sure that will work as easily as you think. This is not sqidoo and you cannot transfer hubs if that's what you were planning.
I don't use Hoodia (and believe me, it's noticeable). lol
Hi Mark!
No, I'm not going into the Hub building business (yet - ha!)
I do know of people who DO that already, but they log into the Hubbers' accounts.
I was just wanting to let them know where they could go to talk about Hoodia.
It's a shame though because I had written some great in-depth research articles (not salesy or diety) about Hoodia and they had to be scrapped.
Tiff ;(
Guys, correct me if I'm wrong, but I think it was also mentioned at one point or another in the forums that "over-used" topics where there are a ton of hubs already about the same topic are likely to get a hubscore penalty, i.e. ringtones, download sites, diet pills ,etc.
Am I right or misremembering?
That's an odd rule to me - mainly because there are a zillion ways to do a slant on a topic. I did read that on Maddie (?)'s substandard Hub page explanation, too, I think.
Something about a penalty if there are too many other hubs. But 1st - how do I find out how many hubs are on a topic and 2.) how many is too many? and 3.) what if mine was better? lol
This is actually what Maddie said about it:
"Some topics have been covered extensively by other users. If you feel you have something new to say or a different take on a popular subject, by all means, create a hub to share it. However, we reserve the right to remove hubs that merely "flog a dead horse," so to speak. For example, there are over 300 hubs about making money online by taking paid surveys. At this point, chances are the topic is fully exhausted. In cases like these, your hub may be flagged because it isn't saying anything that hasn't been covered already."

If you are writing about a particular diet pill in a way that has been done tons of times already, what is the worth? However, if you have a different take or approach, it will probably end up being a great, informative hub.
The problem isn't so much about repeating a topic, but how you provide information. Do we really need another hub about how to make money online? Sure...IF it is different from what everyone and their mother (and grandmother) has already written about.
I'm not just talking about making money online - but any topic. That's cool if it allows a new slant. I like doing that.
I was using "making money online" as an example. You could apply the same question to any other topic already widely written on.

I'm new to HubPages, so give me a break if this is a terrible question. I nearly have 40 followers, and I have posted 15 hubs in 5-6 weeks. When do you start making the big bucks?

When I first joined HubPages, everyone said "don't pay for anying, you can get everything you need to make money online for free".More recently, I've seen more and more experienced Hubbers recommending paid programs. Things like Market Samurai, Keyword Academy, backlinking servies,...

Hello,I have been "hubbing" so to speak for a couple of months now, and I am wondering the best ways to get more volumes of hubs.Is it a good idea to do say 5-10 hubs on a similar topic? Would hubpages allow this?

Well, when you are suffering from depression and you opened your hubpages stats then you notice that 9 of your supposed to be featured hubs got unfeatured due to lack of traffic.. Very disappointing indeed but, can you guys here suggest some tips in improving hits? I don't want to spam my facebook...
