There is some research about the correlation between women in the adult industry and a history of child abuse/sexual abuse. There is one article in particular I've read. This may not be the reason why they entered the adult industry, but may be a factor.
Childhood Sexual Abuse as a Risk Factor for Subsequent Involvement in Sex Work Journal of Psychology & Human Sexuality, 0890-7064, Volume 17, Issue 1, 2005, Pages 131 – 146
However, 1 in 4 girls is sexually abused by the age of 18. So obviously this isn't the only contributing factor when deciding to pursue a career in the adult industry.
the only people who should be able to blame society for their predicaments are disabled people, children, or the mentally ill - people who are powerless and have no ability to take care of themselves. personal responsibility seems to be a thing of the past. this woman had no savings to fall back on in lean times? she was actually fired for excessive absences from her moonlighting activities. yes it was her choice to be a porn star but that is because it was EASY. which may have helped her with her immediate problem, but what about the long-ranging effects? she's someone's mother. when i think of the logistics of her day-to-day existence making porn well it just makes me queasy. she forfeited her right to teach as far as i am concerned.
Odd. Thinking back over the teachers I knew in school, I'm pretty sure not one of them could have gotten any kind of role in porn no matter what.
Some of the nuns at my school were pretty hot...I think....it was hard to tell, but I imagined they were.
LMAO! (Grinning face instead of laughing face only because I've not yet figured out what keystroke combo does the laughing thingie.)
ledefensetech, yet again someone makes up something that I did not say. It is a fact that a high number of women who go into "adult" work (or one sort or another) have been victimized somewhere along the way. There's a difference between saying that and saying that "all kids who have been abused will go into the porn business". What I said is not assumption. It's a fact. Do I assume that every last porn worker was victimized? No, but the other aspect of being willing to do that work (for some people) is that they are willing to do anything for money. Somewhere along the way something happened to their values as well. (I've had a lot of experience with victims of abuse (teen girls) too, so nobody has to be speak on their behalf to me.)
When I said I'd be happy to see the porn industry go away that was NOT saying I care all that much whether it exists or not. I was mainly making the point that it makes no difference to me as it is now, but - sure - if it disappeared I'd be just as happy.
I don't know how much you've read along the way, but my whole point has been that I'm not someone who "is to tell anyone that making porn movies is wrong". I have said I wouldn't want my daughter involved in it, and I've said I don't like to think other people's daughters are involved in it; but I separate my own thinking from what other people do. I'm not someone who wants to impose my own values on others; but I shouldn't have to pretend I think porn is a great thing either. The other thing I've said in previous (granted, long) posts is that I don't think people should automatically call porn workers "immoral".
As far as what someone (even an educated someone) says about human sexuality, I don't care what even an expert says. I have seen for myself that there is a lot of misinformation spread about sexuality (often female sexuality); and even if it isn't misinformation, it is often misinterpreted by any number of experts, who then go on to tell the world their version of things. Some of these people neglect the fact that even though women, like men, have their sexuality; it is different. Some of them will use the argument, "The body is natural. Animals don't wear clothes." (That type of thing.) That neglects the developed brains (with developed sets of emotions) and developed societies we, humans, have.
I have no doubt that experts understand how the different anatomies work when it comes things sexual; but when it comes to sex within the context of society and emotions, so many of them are so full of baloney it isn't funny. I may go take a scan of the page about that particular person, just out of curiosity; but I'm guessing she's like a lot of other people who say some stuff that is accurate but have other ideas that don't match what a whole lot of people know about their own sexuality.
(Oh - I just looked her up. I was thinking you were referring to an expert (maybe with Ph.D. in human sexuality, or something like that. Instead, she's a porn star and apparently self-appointed expert, advising women about sexuality. Sorry, but based on what I saw of her "advice" and expertise; I have to say she just looks like a "piece of work" to me.)
Yes, but if the nuns were moonlighting as porn stars did the diocese cover it up?
I put a lot in on this thread (a ways back), so I was kind of hoping it would go away now.
She was literally fired, for being hot, not even in public, on the weekends. Sent out a crapton of applications, because of the media on her firing couldn't find a job in the area. Made a personal decision to work in the adult industry. Has since been offered jobs by people who called in to the local radio station. Has interviews set up next week. Sounds like the end of the story to me... but who knows
may be her choice earning in short period of time. situation makes human choose there way
anyone in any profession can moonlight in the dark, I don't think it has anything to do with being a teacher, now anyone can find out anything online. if people do things they don't want their employers to know about.... well, the answer is obvious.

A lot of people are stealing photos and pictures from other sites and putting them on Hubpages. While a lot of the pictures are copyright violations, others are ones stolen from public computers or sites without the permission of people involved. In India there is a double...

I was reading this article about Sean Loftis. He is a Miami-Dade county substitute teacher who was suspended from his job when it was discovered that he is a former gay porn actor. This situation reminds me of Tericka Dye, who was also a porn star in the past. After Dye...
