Does shopping make anyone else feel better?

   I was in a sort of slump this weekend.  I was just "blah".  My mother and I went to the mall and I found a pair of sexy faux snake skin sandals on sale for an incredible price.  I bought them, even though I probably won't wear them for a year.  The shoes brightened my mood, miraculously.  Any more good shopping anecdotes?

         I know, right?  I was caught off guard.  The shoes I bought were originally $65, and I got them for $9.97.  Is that crazy, or what?

            i especially love getting cute shoes on sale. i wear a really popular size (7 1/2) and if you don't get there as soon as they come out, herds of people go buy them up, haha. your new shoes sound purty

   Oh, yes....   Shopping does have a way of brightening the day, doesn't it?  I don't even have to "shop big".  All I have to do is go to some little store and pick up a couple pleasant items for a few dollars, and I'm happy.  Of course, "big shopping", can REALLY make me happy.

   I just posted a hub about the whole consumer thing literally a few minutes ago.
   
   I tend to binge, feel for good for a while, then feel guilty about the evils of consumerism etc. I have a bit of a love/hate thing going on with shopping at the moment.

   eh not much of a shopping for clothes person. but when I shopped for books then yes..but recently shopping for books make me more sad

      I love spending hours in the bookstore!!! (Barnes & Noble is my favorite). The problem is, I rarely buy any books because I can get them cheaper on Amazon hahaha. I only buy books in store if they are a new release or the author is a favorite.
      
      Bookstores really only make money off of me if I buy a coffee while browsing. Definitely a great place for me to go if I want to shop without spending! Any other place, I'm going to buy too much useless stuff.

         and the reason it makes me sad these days is because I have sent a story to agents and have only been rejected so I feel like being an author is never going to happen for me

   All kinds of things will do it for me - books (a big one), stuff for the house (small stuff is fine; big stuff is good too    ), clothes, office supplies - anything.  If I buy something I really like I'm happy with it forever (but not happy enough to never buy anything else when I'm in a slump    ).

   Sometimes. Other times I just get overwhelmed and feel even worse.
   
   I tend to know exactly what I want and if I don't find it in about five minutes I go into 'shopper shock' and I have no idea what I'm looking at or why.

      I guess I just went out with Mom to try to feel better.  I had no expectations.  She had her own agenda and I was just tagging along.  I was surprised to find a good deal.  I knew I was going to look at the shoes, because I always do.  I am normally disappointed.

         If my daughters lived closer I'd probably enjoy it more.
         
         Plus, I'm old now so nothing makes me look good--not leopard shoes, not a new hat, not nothin'. So that takes a lot of the fun out of shopping for clothes and shoes.
         
         I like to go to second hand shops and antique stores though.

    My daughter and i love shopping, too much! Of course it makes us happy, but our husbands? That's another thing. If you have the budget, go ahead. If not, and you think it's going to help you get over a depression, think again.

    Not me - I don't get shopping as a lesiure activity. I just do it when I want or need something.
