Holliness: can i be, how? why?

   can i be holy? if yes how? and what do i stand to gain or loose now and there after.

      Meditate come across god and you will change automatically .You stand to save your soul and experience a state of bliss which nothing else can give you.

      Holy is simple.
      
      It means to be set apart.
      
      It means to be separated.
      
      It means to be called out.
      
      It means to be chosen.
      
      apartness, holiness, sacredness, separateness
      
      In Hebrew it is Kodesh.
      
      So ask yourself..."self, is this me?"
      
      "You are to be in the world but not of the world"

      You bring up a very serious topic that is frequently overlooked. Your desire is an indication to yourself that you are drawing closer to holiness. I want to build on what Mohitmisra & Shaul Stein posted regarding this matter because I agree with them entirely. They give you a good place to start and I would like to add to it. Leviticus 21:6-8 states that The Lord is Holy. The word Holy comes from the Hebrew word "Kadesh" which literally means "pure" and the secondary meaning means devoted. Throughout Leviticus you will find many connections between "Holiness" and being "Set-Apart". Assuming that you're born again and have received The Baptism of The Holy Spirit, God will give you wisdom on what particular manner you are to set yourself apart. Holiness is a very abstract term that embodies many ideas that singulary could not completely explain the concept or idea of holiness. Hebrews 12:14 says that without holiness no man shall see The Lord. So this indicates to us how important it is to cultivate holiness. Holiness is a quality that embodies both brotherly love and godliness. Apostle Paul said, "Great is the mystery of godliness." I too have been seeking to further develop this quality in myself. I have found that by keeping my association with ungodly people to an absolute minimum, very helpful. If I am trying to not use profanity it doesn't help to be around someone who is cussing all the time. Or if I'm battling with lustful desires, it doesn't help to hang around someone who talks about getting laid all the time. This doesn't mean that you're judging them, this simply means that you're striving for a different ideal than everyone else. If they want to join you, then welcome them and if not, you must go on with your life on to greater heights. Let no one JUDGE YOU in your desire to live for God. If people have a right to live for whatever they want however hideous, than you too should have the right to live for God without having to answer to people for it. I wish you well.

   Although some people devote their lives to a church; I think for most people, all anyone can do is be the best person they can be (be decent, kind and honest; aim to to have integrity, and follow whatever spiritual/religious beliefs they have, if they have them).  How "holy" that is, I don't really know; but I think it may be about as "holy" as human beings can be.  Besides, I don't happen to think that attending church, being a clergy member, wearing special "religious" clothing, or praying a lot are, by themselves, really the things that make for "holiness".

   there are so many ways a person can be holy i suppose.  I love the bible read it live my life in accordance with it, but no one would really know unless i told them..... i don't go round calling my self holy.  I think of a holy person as being priest, nun something like that....

                   thanks, in my community, too many things are out of the way and those things are affecting my faith becouse they are living with me.. i really want to be different.

   postivethinkin, I think if a person's character and behavior result in actions that would be viewed as "holy" by those who think in those terms; then that would be "holy", whether or not someone believed in God, was spiritual, attended church, etc.
   
   I guess my interpretation of "holy" isn't about whether someone's character or actions are outwardly associated with religious-related things/beings; or inwardly experienced with a sense of "religious connection".  I guess what I consider "holy" is to think first, if there is a God and He looks down on someone's actions (even someone who doesn't believe in God) and thinks, "good, kind, caring, person with a good heart".  To me, God would see that person as "holy" (in fact, maybe even a little more holy because he was acting from that good heart, rather than out of fear that someone was watching).  I guess my version of "holy" is whether someone's behavior/actions are in keeping with my version of what I think God would approve of.

   Yes, you can be Holy if you choose to be.
   
   As to the other questions, on checking your profile I'm positive you already have the answers. Are "we" guilty of something?
