My capitulation to capitalism: my first product-related hub

   I started hubbing a few (about 7 or 8) weeks ago with no intent whatsoever to make money. I liked to write about some topics and to share something with potential readers. However, after I realised that I am able to attract some visitors (albeit on a limited scale, I guess my traffic does not slow down the hubpages servers) I thought about monetizing. Some days ago I even got an adsense account approved (I made whopping 20 cents so far ).
   
   However, today I finalized signed my total and unconditional capitulation and I just finished my very first "Buy this product [and let me earn money] hub".
   
   Of course, I do not have a clue about selling anything and realising that I usually do not buy that much stuff I did not know what product I should advertise. Being a geographer by training I finally wrote a hub about globes (or put clearly about buying globes).
   
   I would greatly appreciate any feedback and criticism. Especially from those many experts here who are used to write such hubs. I promise I will read these hubs much more often than I do now (I get the mails about product related hubs via fan e-mail and sometimes I do read them out of curiosity and I really enjoy reading them sometimes).

   good start - so now you're a capitalist, nasty bugger.
   Good start. I like the structure. I would have done it in a similar manor. But I recently got some tips from a successful Amazon affiliate that suggested less content and more ads. I'm trying it her way for a while. hard to argue with success.

   Never end a stuff hub with a video. Stick an amazon capsule underneath it and put more globes or related materials. The last thing you want a shopper to see is something to buy.

      Wow, great advice Nellie. I saw some of your hubs and they were full of amazon (and eBay?) capsules. I'm thinking of going to this capitalism avenue just to see what will happen .

   I don't know why writing for money is seen as evil. Didn't Charles Dickens write for money??
   
   I tend to (I hope) hold a middle line between a "stuff hub" and an "info Hub".  I always try to write solid content and include highly relevant ads as well.  I wouldn't feel comfortable writing a Hub where the ads dominated.

   @All. Thank you for your responses. I have to admit that writing a stuff related hub was quite fun.
   
   @appletree: I appreciate your response (and thanks for your comment on the hub). I am also somewhat undecided about the relationship between content and ads. My personal feeling would tend towards few ads to avoid an overload. But I could be on the wrong side with this opinion.
   
   @Nelle: You made a good point, thank you very much. Now that I look at the hub it seems obvious. I am going to add some more globes after the youtube video. BTW, I read your hub on buying an atlas for kids. Really, really wonderful. I admire your writing so much (even it is advertising copy writing). I almost was tempted to buy a kids' globe .
   
   @Rochelle: I actually thought about writing about GPS for outdoor navigation. However, there is quite a serious competition in all related keywords and writing a useful and comprehensive "how to use guide" would be quite challenging for me since English is a foreign language for me and it is quite painful for me to write sometimes.
   
   @emievil: Give it a try. I guess there is nothing to lose when writing some stuff-related hubs. I am curious if there will be ever some results .
   
   @Marisa: Of course, there is nothing evil in writing for money (actually I earn my living in my day job in a field involving quite a lot of [boring] writing). I just looked for an attention grabbing title .

   If you want to sell stuff from hubs the most important thing is to get search engine traffic rather than general hubpages traffic, cos thats people who are looking to buy already. I find 2 things really help - having a title based on a search term and being quite specific. Look if people are searching for specific types of globes (floor standing, antique, mini etc) and either create subhubs about them linked from your main info hub, or at least make these search terms text capsule titles. That way you will probably get more targetted traffic and more sales.

   I've read your hub and I clicked over every link I could.
   I think kephrira is right and you'll find ways to increase traffic.
   I've been a navigator myself and I'm glad that such dear subjects be treated with a talent that makes them popular.

      Don't do that, zampano!  People can lose their Adsense account if it looks like their friends are clicking to help them out.
