Well, not really. I joined Helium a couple weeks ago and now I'm joining here, but already I prefer this layout. Just wanted to say hello to everyone while I scour the Help files.
...so...hello!
Welcome! I'm the Community Manager here at HubPages. I encourage you to check out the user guide. You might also want to think about joining the 30 Hubs in 30 Days Challenge to jumpstart your traffic!
Hi back at ya! Hope you enjoy it here as much as I am enjoying it and you are right the layout is much better.
The layout at Helium is the least of your worries.
Whatever you do, just dont publish anymore at Helium. If you leave you can never delete your articles, whilst here you retain the rights.
They pay crap money for page views, in a nutshell..... they will rip you off.
Congratulations on now finding the best publishing platform available, at least for those without advanced web development skills.
Ryankett somehow after reading your post it makes me feel better about what you said. I cannot login as indian authors are no longer allowed. I lost all the articles i had written prior to the ban.
Welcome aboard leftwriter to hubpages. Enjoy hubbing!!!
Are your articles still published? I believe that they lock your account, but keep your articles.
If that is the case, which you can find out by searching google, then why not strip them all put them in a blog? If they aren't paying you..... then in my eyes, their rights go straight out of the window.
I still have my Helium account, and its horrible because the process you have to go through just to edit them is a nightmare. So, I now have loads of pretty poorly written articles on google with my name on them..... which was not my intention when joining 2 years ago.
Stick with hubpages my friend and you will go far.
Wow never thought about that, i guess i should consider doing that as i felt kind of cheated. No wonder i like hubpages here compared to anything else on the internet. Thanx for the idea though.
Thank you for the information, Ryan. I too am a recent defector from Helium and so far greatly appreciate the hubpages community.
Hi there, welcome to hubpages
If you take your time to read some of the fantastic hubs about making money on this site, you will soon realise how much greater your longer term earning potential is.
As soon as I realised that one of my helium articles was earning them up to $7 each time somebody clicked on an ad..... whilst I was getting 1 cent per page view..... I decided to have a crack at going alone
I actually stirred the pot ryankett and started putting them on my blogs, they have since deleted all my articles from their site. I feel blessed.
Thats excellent. They are better off on your blogs. In fact, you should re-write them, put them on hubpages, and then link from your blogs to your hubpages.
That has a far greater earning potential if you learn about adsense keywords, and you retain the right to delete either.
I might go and copy and paste all my helium articles then, if thats going to get me taken off!
Actually, I think this might be why they decided to terminate the account. However, for some reason they decided to delete all my articles so none of the 100+ articles I had on the site are pubbed anywhere now other than a few I had on my blogs.
I will say for anyone who is still with Helium to save your article to a file before you publish it to the site. They have internal editors that are going in and changing wording etc on articles and your work may not be the same as when you pubbed it. This was the main reason I started saving my articles -- entered two contests and both entries were changed by these editors and the wording did not make since with what I was saying and it like Ryankett said was a bear to get them changed back.
I am very fortunate in that they didn't keep my articles and now the few links that still remain go to a page not found notice so I have full access again to what I wrote in its original form.
If you stay with Helium be very cautious.
Whoa. Can they do that? I guess I am not very good at reading fine print.
Yeah they can it is in their TOS, unfortunately. It also states that they can do what they will with your articles because they have first rights.
Wow - lots of good information, and thanks for the quick welcomes! Very glad to hear from others who have used Helium. I haven't been a member there for very long but I found the rating system in particular far too susceptible to human error (or human indifference). Being able to have some choice in the advertising in my articles here makes me happy, too.

if so, how did it go?

I was reading a Hub on Hubpages, and was concerned to read the advice that the content we use in our Hubs should be unique, not something we've posted elsewhere on the net.I started out on Helium and have nearly 200 articles on that site. When I joined HubPages, I saw it as a great opportunity to...

I applied to Adsense and received a letter back stating that my info was for another account I had so I would be denied. This other account was from a long time ago so I had forgotten about it because it went no where. Google gave me the option to have them delete the other account and register the...

I'd appreciate the feedback from anyone who has written on other Pay To Write sites on this statistical survey I've just published:<snippy snippy- for shame!>It was not possible to be totally accurate on a couple of the figures, such as the total number of articles published on triond.com and...
