I'm feeling a little under the weather today so I made some Irish oatmeal with a little brown sugar and a couple of raspberries.

What breakfast do you like when you aren't feeling so hot?

Your tea and toast sounds like what my Mom gave us as children.  Make that dry toast with no butter.  Yuck.  I rarely drink tea because of that.  Hope you feel better soon.

Personally, I like to peel the sheets off of my wife and then.....

Oh wait, you said when I'm NOT feeling hot.

      Never mind.

I'm with ralwus on this one.
But one of my fave breakfasts include whole grain waffles berries and cream on top, with eggs and bacon. Forget healthy. It's a reward when that happens.

Irish oatmeal is great. Try putting a little honey in instead of brown sugar, keep the berries and add some walnuts, pecans, or almonds. Craisins are a good addition as well as golden raisins and regular raisins. I like my oatmeal messed up properly.

    get well soon, uw.

oatmeal's good.  so is cream of wheat, with tiny lumps that are cooked, but not dissolved, achieved by not over-stirring.  with a small slice of butter, topped with brown sugar and blueberries.  totally almost organic.

A man after my own heart!  I love oatmeal and lumpy cream of wheat.  The oatmeal comes out even creamier if you mix the oats in cold water first before putting it on the stove to cook....mmmmmm!

I also like Red River Cereal, cornmeal and grits (when I can get them).

Susan, so sorry to hear that you're not feeling well!  Hope it doesn't last long and you're feeling better quickly!

I hope you get better Uninvited Writer.  Usually when I feel under the weather I just drink a lot of fluids.  I don't really eat breakfast in the mornings anyway since I'm always in a rush to get to work.

Forgive my ignorance, Univited Writer but what is Irish oatmeal?  How is it different from say, Quaker oats?

I don't really know but this one is imported from Ireland and has no sodium, sugar, etc smile It is quick cooking oats though.

The Irish oatmeal I have is a cracked grain (oats) not rolled out into flat flakes like the quaker oats. Takes longer to cook, more like a grainy 'porridge'.

Hope you are feeling better soon, UW.

Pour in the Orange Juice for Vitamin C...if your stomach can take it. I would have had the same thing you did for breakfast...if my stomach was ready for food. Mostly...I would toss it too...like ralwus said. My stomach is always a factor everytime I get sick...

Oatmeal's great for breakfast.  It comes out best when it's the  'OLD FASHIONED'  type, allowed to sit a while in very cold water,  cooked slowly and buttered, then touched up with a bit of plain Soy Silk milk and sugared to taste.    A dash of cinnamon won't hurt either.   My-o-my, what a creamy treat!
The soy milk adds a richness to the flavor.  Think I'll have some right now.... tongue

Based on its looks, I've never tried oatmeal.  lol  (I'm like a six-year-old when it comes to "ruling out" food, based only on its looks.  smile )

When I feel well I have coffee for breakfast.  When I don't I'll have tea and a couple of saltine crackers.  If I'm out-and-out sick I may go for a glass of Coke or ginger ale.
