Can I add links to outsite products?

I just found hubpages and got busy creating my first hub.

I noticed that I can insert links in the text modules. If I have my own websites selling information products can I link to them when appropriate? I'd hate to do something that would get me kicked out of here before I even get started ;-)

Let me clarify this a little bit more.

I'm not talking about turning my hub into a blatant ad for other products; I don't need to ask to know that's NOT a good practice.

But if I create a really informative hub on a specific topc, and I have a site where I offer a much more extensive audio or video guide on the same topic , is it OK to link to that site?

Thanks in advance to everyone who takes a few moments to respond and help me out.

    Smiles,

    Adam

    http://hubpages.com/faq/#overly_promotional

The FAQ is a good place to start. If you look at the top of your screen you will see white letters over grey background. To the right click on "help"

    Hello Adam,

Welcome to HubPages - I am new too ( and not just to HubPages !!! - more like everything to do with IT - I am not joking ........)

Everyone is very welcoming and helpful here, and I am gradually getting used to it all.

I too need an answer to this question, so will read the above.

    Rules of thumb:

No more than two links to the same domain in any one Hub.

Vary the domains across your stable of Hubs, so if you only have one website of your own, write some hubs about your hobbies or pets to mix it up. A pattern of linking to one domain across a large proportion of your Hubs will cause problems.

Completely unique content, not appearing anywhere else on the internet.

Minimum 300 words, and if you quote something, count the words in the quote and add double that number of original words.

    Happy Hubbing!

Wow! That was fast! Even this late at night people still come to the rescue. Thank you.

I also read several other hubs in the last few minutes. In particular, I found several hubs by Maddie Ruude very helpful.

Here they are just in case someone else is looking for this info:
    http://hubpages.com/hub/Overly-Promotional
    http://hubpages.com/hub/Substandard

    And these two from Lissie:
    http://hubpages.com/hub/How-To-Write-a-Flagship-Hub
    http://hubpages.com/hub/How-to-Create-a … ive-Design

But in this quick search for the good examples of what I want my hubs to look like I found quite a few examples that were very borderline. In fact, I'd consider them straight promos for affiliate products. Which confused me a bit - especially after I read the FAQs and other hubs on what's considered overly promotional.

I guess have a lot to learn about this...

Again, thank you for taking the time to help me out ;-)

      Good morning !

LOL - A lot of people try to skirt the rules. But don;t worry, they usually get themselves deleted in the end big_smile

Some of us are wide awake here in Oz - thanks for finding my other hubs - but the most relevant is probably this one: http://hubpages.com/hub/HubPages-Internet-Marketing

HubPages is moderated by human beings, so it may take some time before a Hub which breaks the rules is unpublished. If you search the forum you will find threads where people are wailing about their Hubs being unpublished after months of breaking the rules. As if getting away with it for a certain number of weeks entitles you to break the rules forever!

We already like you a lot because you are bothering to work out the rules and try to get it right the first time.

This is really amazing! By that I mean many of the hubs by people who responded to my question.

I've been an information marketer for the past seven years. I've been also teaching others how to turn their know-how into information products. And one of the principles of information marketing is leverage, which - when it comes to content - means repurpose as much as possible.

So while I wasn't too happy at first to read the rules about duplicate content on hubs, I already quickly realized the value of this requirement.

I've got to admit that I don't remember the last time I found so much really good content on one site - and for free. A lot of you are really good at putting together logical, step-by-step explanations and guides. Which I LOVE!

I especially loved a line I read on one of the hubs about not buying anyone's $40 ebook on how to get started with hubpages. I wish someone gave that advise to all the people on Facebook who seem to fall head over heels for all the "make money on Facebook" junk!

The amazing part is, even after they pony up some $$ for that ebook that teaches them all the "best tricks" they still continue to send blank friend invites and then immediately follow up with "join my site" spam!

It almost makes me want to write a hub "why the gurus of making money on Facebook and Linkedin don't like hubpages"!

OK, I think I've gotten of topic here...

Once again, thank you for your help and the for the "red carpet" welcome. I already feel at home here and I'm looking forward to getting to know all of you a lot better over the upcoming months.

Now, I think I'm going to get some sleep. ;-)

    Smiles,

    Adam
