Yes, and no. Wordpress is a blogging platform. Wordpress is to blogs what Microsoft Excel is to spreadsheets. Can you make money via AdSense, Amazon, etc. on a Wordpress blog? Yes. Is it just like HubPages? No. You are the sole owner and emperor of a Wordpress blog.

There are two ways to use Wordpress. One is free and the other costs a minimal amount. http://wordpress.com is actually hosted by Wordpress. In plain English, you're working with a middleman called Wordpress. Your options are somewhat limited (although you can do a fabulous and successful blog there), and your domain name will look something like: http://my-blog-name.wordpress.com. But it is completely free and you need very little education to get up and running quickly.

Or, you can go to a place like GoDaddy.com and buy a domain name and some webhosting (the two things you will need). They generally offer built-in installations of WordPress. Once you've installed WordPress under your domain name on your webhost, you are the Emperor of Everything on that domain, have all of the WordPress options and more, and your domain will read http://my-blog-name.com without "WordPress" added in.

Hi Guys,  interesting about making money from wordpress.  I've started a new wordpress blog, but haven't begun to monetise it yet (too much to do at the mo).  But it's great to hear that you can make money from it.  One question though, how do I stop the spammers.  They've taken roost on one of my pages and marking them as spam and deleting them doesn't seem to get rid of them.
