Hi everyone!
Heres my question, I am new to hub Pages and I have only posted a couple Hubs and each time I post, the number beside me gets lower I am interesting and fun lol I promise! Can someone shed some light on my situation please. Thanks!
Check your number tomorrow and I bet it will be higher.
hee hee.
i'd say you're doing pretty well so far. i don't think i was at 48 until i was here for over a month, because the first month i didn't do anything with this account, but as soon as i started writing it started to climb.
good luck and happy hubbing. (yay, another brunette!
I am new also, you have to give it time, these folks are good folks, keep hubbing, its worth it.
Jon
Hi Stacey, welcome to HubPages you are only a couple hours old on HP lol ...whatever are you worried for...besides, we all started there too. continue writing quality Hubs, promote in directories, forums, social sites, etc and chatter here n there in the HP forums. Your score will then soar hope that brings a smile.
Hi Stacey. Well first off the key is to keep writing and be active in the forums and commenting on peoples hubs and so forth. You will se your score eventually go up by doing that.
On another note I took a look at your hubs and while they are alright the one about the wild dogs has great pictures but needs a lot more words. Most like to say 400 to 600 words. In saying that I think you can figure out the problem with the second hub.
You will get the hang of it, Welcome to HubPages
You're just a baby on the hubs. Don't worry, you'll get older soon. I started low too. I still drop a point when I post a new hub. Give yourself time.
Keep writing. And most importantly be patient.
Only been here a couple of weeks myself, but my advice would be to try not to focus on numbers like that. Write interesting stuff, share your views with others here and it'll build up naturally on its own.
WEll that was fast Thanks everyone!!! Dale, thanks for taking a look at my Hubs lol yeah... I am just getting the feel for it and as I am reading the other Hubs I am laughing a little at my own. Your all right I am a baby hubber I will give it some time
Your all great!
Aren't you glad you joined? Look out for the forum parties. They happen without warning or notice.
Like they all said, but I will add that it takes time (and hubs) to raise your hubscore. You'll have probably written 10-15 hubs before you break the 75 mark.
Remember ... hubpages wants the compel the quality hubber to write and to discourage the spammer from adding meaningless content. As such, your hubscore starts low until you prove you are not a spammer, which does take some time.
Keep writing quality hubs and your score will rise naturally. Participation in the forums helps as well. The only real bad self-promo thing you can do is fan a lot of other people, as this makes you look like a spammer and negatively impacts your score.
I recommend not becoming a fan of anyone until you find a writer who you really want to follow or someone you think you can learn a lot from, and then fan that person, as it is then advantageous to do so.
Hi Stacy,
Don't fret about it, just write more and it will get better.. You probably do need to increase your word count in your articles. Make sure that your work is your own original words. You can get low hubscores for htat as well! Good luck!
Stacey ~ Welcome to Hubpages! Just keep working at it, like the rest of us, the more you experience on the site the more you will pick up and learn. Participate and write, your scores will be all over the place, don’t worry about it. Traffic is what is important not scores. The more traffic, the more people will see your ideas, thoughts and feelings. Scores are for English Class this is marketing and/or exposure.
Hang in there Stacy!! The hubscore is a crazy thing sometimes. Just don't worry too much about it. Easier said than done, I know But welcome to hubpages!!!! Always great to see a new face about!!
Welcome to HP!
I don't quite understand the scoring system, but I do know that most of my hubs start really low and then quickly increase in score. Keep up the good work.
Most of the problem with your Hubscore not increasing much is your Hubs are short. I checked them and they both look to be under 300 words. 300 is the bare minimum a Hub should be. What is suggested is 500-1,500 words. 500 Is a nice number, anything 450-650 is pretty good. You added pictures and videos, also a poll - good job! Now, just work on longer, high quality hubs, and stay active in the forums, oh yeah! Some comments on others hubs would also help!
Welcome btw, you will enjoy it here,

I wish there was a way to turn it off. It goes up and down without reason, and it can be very distressing.

I got like 10 posts stuck in the mid 70's that I want to get to 80 so I can submit them to networks. What are some surefire ways to increase your score without changing everything? I use the same format on two hubs with similar subjects and one gets 93 and the other gets 77...so frustrating.
