It must, there are hundreds of online dating sites. If they dont I see millions of refunds.

rednckwmnposted 14 years agoin reply to this

lack of refund doesnt mean anything...they aer out to make a buck off of lonely broken hearted people...and sometimes dirty old men...Im sure you can meet people on line, but unless you actually get to know them face to face, its not going to be real? I have friends who do the dating on line thing..so far it hasn't worked out. One of them just got divorced after 9 years of an extremly unhappy marrige, they met online....I dunno tho, if your meant to meet someone, it will happen somehow...

Loads of people that meet offline ends in a disaster. Online dating has grew bigtime over the last 5 years. I know loads of people that met online and are going strong. To be honest I think you actually find out more about a person over the internet that they would never tell in reality, just my take on it.

How true that is.  I would have never told you in person that I look like this because my old lady buried me out back years ago and the dogs just dug me up.

But on here it just flows out..

meeting offline ending in disaster....very good point. That is cool to know that some people are going strong.  smile I guess I didnt really explain myself well. Of course people can MEET online, but to have it become a real relationship..its gotta move beyond online...but that wasnt even the question was it?
I do think you can feel like you find out alot about a person, but its so easy to portray yourself anyway you want...

guess so but I could be a six foot tall man for all anyone knows - with just a pretty pic up on the net - tell a bunch of lies about my pretty little girly self and have some dude fall in love with the made up chick - then when we actually meet  - do you think he would still be in love with me?

Lust is just a whole lot of the 'shh and the bad' without really knowing each other.

At this point I have decided being single is just better, and I do not feel like I am missing out on anything.  When I see stressed out parents and couples fighting, I really do not envy that at all.  Maybe that sounds extreme, but in this economy it is much easier to only have to worry about paying my own way.

First of all, I don't believe there is such thing as "true love," as people generally use it.  There are many potential partners for each individual, and it depends on circumstances and relationship work ethic which one he or she ends up with, and for how long.

Secondly, it matters not a whit WHERE you meet someone.  Falling in love depends on entirely different factors.

Bill and I will be together six years in March. We met through an online dating site.

I think you can find just about anything on the internet, including lots of things you probably don't want or need.

I agree with Sweetie Pie and Maggie both.

It's easier to be single. But if you want a relationship it's less about 'true love' and more about maturity and honesty and knowing yourself. You have to be happy if you DON'T find true love.

For some reason, if you go looking for it, that never ends well.

See if I was a female it would be an Art, maybe use the surname Star for me and possibly use 77 in my email as well. That would deff be me for sure, Starme77, cute but not cute enough lol. smile

Anytime so Bloodnlatex you know both personas well, do you think I am real as in female or do you think BadCo is real as in male. Making up a male Bad Boy is a hell of a lot more fun than doing it with a female character.

Throw in that Johnny Depp face and I am halfway home, you are so right starme77, things are never ever what they appear to be, life online is but an illusion smile

That's quite a suggestion, PirateGirl.  All together, life is full of illusions, as the Buddhist mantra goes.  Indra's Net is the best model for this.  However, many get trapped by this same "Net," a.k.a. the World Wide Web big_smile

I'm usually pretty good at detecting that, and I was pretty much sold on you being the true cabin girl that you claimed.  It is just too hard for men to make up what they think a woman would say and sound convincing.  I've tried.

I met my husband on the internet back in 2002, much by accident.  It was not through a dating site, but I don't see why that wouldn't work.  I was looking for some school that might teach Italian, like a Berlitz.  I had just moved into a new house, and I didn't have a phone book.  My brother had mentioned I could find phone numbers online, but he didn't explain to go to a particular website.  I had AOL, and I clicked on Directory, thinking it would be a phone directory.  I typed in "italian" and hundreds of listings popped up.  I clicked on the first one I found, and it showed me a page written in Italian.  There was an IM button so I clicked it.  Someone answered me.  I tried English with no luck, so I tried to type in French.  Still no luck, I finally tried Spanish, thinking it would be close enough to be understood by an Italian instructor.  He responded in Spanish.  Hours later I realized he was not an Italian instructor, the words on his profile were lyrics to an Andrea Bocelli song, and he wasn't even in my town, but in Mexico City.  We chatted for eight hours.  I jumped on a greyhound bus the next day and rode 24 hours to Mexico City to meet him in person.  Looking back, it was not the smartest thing an 18 year old could do.  But now we are married with four children, and I am so glad I was computer illiterate and dumb enough to take a chance like that.
