Do any of y'all see the current scandals surrounding Letterman as particularly significant in light of the recent turmoil over his 'jokes' about Palin and her daughters?

What lesson is that; don't have sex when you are single and older? I mean the man is in his sixties you know.

So let me get this straight. He admitted to having sex with female employees, no one is suing him, the network is keeping him on, and someone tried to extort two million for his "misdeeds."

        Damn him!!!

Having sex with women... I don't know all the details. He brought it up himself anyway.

I think he is using his position to play public opinion up front, and ahead of the truth comming out, if it ever does. But others here are correct, he had sex with an executive assistant.

As far as palin and the insults...now that He personaly has had trouble find him, his jokes will be non-affective. And Her daughter as well as Palin could use it. Time will tell.

i used to like him a lot but over the years he just seemed to get egotistical and arrogant...yes he apologized for his remarks re: sarah palin's daughter but it did not seem like a genuine apology...in fact he appeared annoyed that he even had to do that much.

    i like conan o'brien.

    cosetteposted 14 years ago

well i don't see what the big deal is anyway. it's not like he is a hatchet murderer. no one is angry at the female staff members he slept with. that, to me, is unprofessional...i have had invites from men in high ranking positions over the years and turned them down because the whole idea is kind of icky.

in one case, this girl went from being a receptionist to the President's "personal assistant" and started acting all bossy and like we had to curtsey to her.

    haha smile

They sure gave Monica Lewinsky hell though, Clinton invented Lecherous behavior and the libs beat up on the female involved.

I mean Lewinsky, she was vilified by every newspaper in the country and ripped to shreds on Saturday night live. Tripp was too but you might be right about deserving it.

I don't know. I remember Tripp-bashing and Starr-bashing a lot in the liberal circles I'm in, I guess - I don't remember much about Lewinsky at all. Most people I knew were defending both Clinton and her.

Yes. She was a liar. Her claim about his private parts turned out to be not true. Anyone defending her claim to get a quick buck is probably a partisan hoping to exploit anything against him.

A Texanposted 14 years agoin reply to this

She was given a polygraph that determined she was not lying about her claim, as far as a description of his penis I haven't heard that she was lying. Clinton settled for the exact amount she was wanting in damages so I tend to believe Clinton the Perjurer was in fact lying, and anyone taking his side is doing so for partisan reasons. The point of all this is the left will attack a female victim instead of holding the victimizer accountable, every time!

He is a comedian...comedian's make fun of people, that is what they do. The same as other comedian's are making fun of his troubles.

David Letterman as funny man has no moral base, Jokes are usually, sarcastic or satiric, when the reputation of anybody becomes a source of comedy, it is the sign of low character of any person, comedian, politician or even clergy, there many ways to funny without defaming somebody's reputation or insulting.
Yes, David Letterman is low class.

A male media personality have sex with women. Imagine that!

    Whodathunkit!

I mean, dang, shouldn't he have his private bits duct-taped all the time?

OK. So he made some self-depreciating jokes about it. As he should have.

Is anyone suing him for sexual harassment? Nope!

Is the network out to get him? Nope!

I like letterman over all, I appreciate a dry sense of humour,  but recently there ar alot of things I don't like about him.

I don't like the fact that Letterman portrays himself as a victim in being blackmailed for doing things he shouldn't have done.   I find it disturbing that he made it part of his late night routine and actually got laughs for it. It's almost as if he didn't take responsiblity.. it is just all part of the act..

He was being blackmailed, which is illegal. From all I have heard, he seems to be taking responsibility for it.

Yes, blackmail is illegal. Apparently having sex while single is more serious though. Like I said he should duct-tape his privates.

        Go figure.
