    Hi guys and gals!

I'm hoping that someone will have a definitive answer to my question for me to formulate my best strategy.

I'm confused about what is happening with backlinks from Hubpages to an external site.

I published my first article on 26 September and now have 5 Hubs published, which have scores between 73 and 89, according to the article score, or between 73 and 86, according to the statistics page. I have one link to an external page in each Hub. I've checked the source of each article and all the links are NOT "nofollow", thus should be indexed. Google has not picked up any links from Hubpages to the external site yet. Yahoo has 3 links to the external site from Hubpages today, although it had 4 links to the external site from Hubpages yesterday. One of the backlinks is from my Hubber profile. The other 2 backlinks are from the 2 highest-scoring Hubs, according to the statistics. The oldest Hub has a backlink, while the next 2 oldest don't.

I can understand that it may take a while for Yahoo to pick up all the backlinks, but why, if all my Hub scores are above 73, don't the 2 Hubs that are older than the second-highest scoring Hub, have backlinks?

So, to recap. Hubber score is 81; Hub scores 73 - 86(89). 5 Hubs published. 4 backlinks from Hubpages to Yahoo yesterday and only 3 today. Hubs published on 26 September and 3 October have backlinks, while Hubs published on 30 September and 1 October don't.

    Thanks for your time.

The search engines will count your links in their own good time - it has nothing to do with hubpage scores.

Assuming the hubs are indexed the links will probably count - Yahoo is more likely to show them Google but no engine is guaranteed to show all your backlinks. BTW I don't even bother checking for at least a month for Yahoo and 6 months for Google

Thanks Lissie. I will just have to be patient. It just seems strange though that I lost one backlink from Hubpages today. I had 4 on Yahoo yesterday and just 3 today.

If you have a blog "anchor" your keywords from your hub to your blog. If your Blog is already indexed it will help get your hub indexed Faster. Also ping it with pingoat, or Technorati this will also get the little robot crawling.

Thanks for your replies. Google has now picked up some of the backlinks, but .........
My Hubber score has gone down from 83 to 69 in 2 or 3 days. I actually watched it drop from 72 to 69 in the last 4 hours. I published a new hub yesterday and I now have 6 hubs published within 2 weeks. My Hubpages have been viewed 1,789 times and I have 194 comments. I've read, rated and left comments on other Hubs. I've answered questions. I have 13 fans.

What have I done wrong? My backlinks are all now "nofollow", so of no use in SERP. Maybe I should delete my Hubs and put them on Ezine.

The HubPages system is set up to discourage exactly the type of hub building that you are engaging in.  I suggest you read the FAQ, as it very clearly explains why your scores are dropping and why your links have become "nofollow."

You have to balance out your promotion, whatever algorithm or the powers that be or even annoyed fellow hubbers will quickly end your current trend.

All 6 hubs have one external link to your website, if you had say 30 hubs and only 10 referenced your own site, than perhaps no one would complain but at this point your sole purpose is apparent, obvious and in general not accepted.

Add some variety to your portfolio of hubs

I suppose your hubs are too self promotional , I guess nothing wrong with that if you are providing quality content and linking to more relevant sources , not only your website.
