So let me get this straight.  You were fencing, and you broke your thumb.  So the first thing you thought to do was get on here and tell us about it?  What happened to taking care of it, or seeing a doctor?

I saw the school nurse - she basically wrapped it in tape and I went back to fencing...seemed like a good idea - am in agony now though haha.

That happened to me once. Fracturing my thumb I mean, not by fencing though. I was wrestling some kid at school years ago, and he fell on top of me, on my right thumb. The thing is, he had a chain wrapped around his chest, and one of those links landed on it.

That thumb hurt for the next few years, on and off.

    ooh

that sounds painful! it just goes to show you how much force is generated doing something like that. fencing? 'k, that is pretty interesting. i always see people doing that in spy movies or stories about Musketeers. i hope you feel better soon. we need our thumbs wink

Haha, I'm being used to help train the people who are doing the school play this year (yes, I'm 18 but am in my last year at school). We're doing the three musketeers.

Anyway, that isn't how I injured it. Basically my day went as follows:

    Fencing in school 2pm - 4pm
    Training the musketeers 4pm - 5.30pm
    Squad training 5.30pm - 7.30pm

So yeah, it happened in the school session - some guy slammed his sabre guard down on top of mine and my thumb went backwards and crumpled up...not good really.
