there are some useful plug ins where you could for example announce that you posted a new hub and it would automatically display at your facebook account/twitter account/linked in etc all at the same time

Twitter is also a fun place to meet people with the same interests..Or if you want to follow or spy on your competitor

there are a lot of ways which we can share information and one of which is twitter. you may find twitter useful to you or not, that depends on the people you follow and the updates you posted in there. but for me, twitter is one way of telling the world i have published a hub. members or not of hubpages  on twitter will have the chance to read my articles. and i have seen and followed updates of well-known internet marketers on twitter

I am glad you can see this.  Just the other day I noticed Charter Communications, a cable company, had one of their sales consultants on twitter.  Presidential candidates use twitter, businesses use twitter, a few small businesses even discussed how more people found them on twitter.  It is good to do research before jumping to conclusions I say.

Alot of API tools are being designed to essentially do what google does with websites, to scour good real time data for sites, newscasts and more... it's interresting how these days we can take billions of seperate posts of data and in seconds can compile a page with just the stuff we want i.e. marketers can do this to see how many people are talking about the new elmo doll, or toothpaste, or america's favorite foods...

I'm a little late to the Twitter phenom, but I've finally made it.  I've followed some of you on there already, but feel free to follow me, too, if you're inclined.

Twitter is great... I am just really getting into it...  I have about 650 followers...  You can use it to promote your hubs but you don't want every tweet you send have a URL attached.. my suggestion is only about 25% - 40% of your tweets should have URL's attached.

I know I'm just not "Internet material" in most ways; but I tried Twitter, and I closed the account almost immediately.  For me, nothing in 100 and however many characters or less will ever capture my interest; and I really find it hard to believe that any followers are all that interested in anything I'd post about what I'm doing.  People just want to get followers back.  It's another place to post a link to a Hub, but I felt like I wasn't really "participating" if I just put links to my own writing.  Then there were the spam followers.  hmm  Besides, my friends and relatives aren't interested in getting updates of my days.  Talking to people every few days pretty much does the job for me.  lol  I know it's "just me".  I'm social-networking challenged.  lol

Have just gone and 'followed' everyone on the thread.  However some of the profiles are not active and some have been stopped due to 'strange activity'.

Can you actually get any stranger than tweeting?
